Can I add a sound or popup to an email filter set in Thunderbird?

TJGeezer August 29, 2011

I’m using the Eudora OSE skin for Thunderbird and I need to add a sound (small tune, bell, whatever) when email arrives from my boss. There’s already a special filter for those, so is there a “play sound” command for the message filters?

    Firefox Addon
    Mailbox Alert

    New Email Ticker
In Thunderbird, when you receive new mail, an alert will pop up in the lower right corner of the screen (at least on Windows). In Thunderbird, go to Tools–>Options, open the Advanced section, select the General tab, then click on “Config Editor.” In the Config Editor, search for the preference alerts.totalOpenTime. Double-click on it, to change the value. Set the value to the amount of milliseconds you want the alert to stay up.The Choose Sound dialog box's filter lets you see all file types, but
Thunderbird expects a WAV sound file. To hear the sound you selected, click the
Preview Sound button. Click OK to validate, or Cancel to
    keep the default sound.

    New Mail Alert Configuration

Adds a new action to mail filters to allow playing a particular sound when the filter matches. Also includes several sample sound files.

    Blinking alert
