How can I access web sites blocked at work?

null August 20, 2010

My work internet is blocking games and entertainment. I have tried everything I can think of.

When I use a proxy web based, it states my java script is disabled, but its not. I tried pinging the web sites and even tried downloading the web sites, but access denie. I also tried translating the web site and renaming the web site as something else.

Please help! Thank you.

I want to download program (.exe & video) required for my lecturing, but the filtering denied all this and make my daily job to find info harder. Yes I understand the security reasons, but isn't this too much?

it was a warning, no need to become all defensive.

However, with the information you just volunteered, I'm even more convinced you would risk your job. You either work for the military, an oil company, or some other sensitive business. Neither will want to take risks and oil companies certainly can't use any bad publicity these days.

If you want to visit rather harmless sites during your free time, why don't you contact the person responsible for your network and see whether they can give you access one way or the other.

You could also ask us how to spend all your free time online on 'trusted' sites like MakeUseOf. ;)

I have written a few posts about this, but I am just going to link you to this page which lists pretty much them all //

I second Tina. It's best to wait until you get home to access games and porn.

I would seriously reconsider trying to access games and entertainment web sites at work. You are risking your job!

These websites are blocked for a reason. If your company deals with sensitive (customer) data, it may try to protect itself from malicious attacks. And of course your employer wants you to work and not play while you're at work!

If you are found accessing these sites even though they are blocked, your employer can fire you. That said I'm sure there are ways to access blocked sites. We have had similar questions before:
