Amazon's Appstore users have been experiencing a host of issues after upgrading to Android 12, which debuted in October 2021. For months, its users have been complaining, and finally, Amazon came through.

The company has fixed the issue, and its Appstore is now working fine on the latest version of Android. Here's everything you need to know.

Amazon Fixes Its Broken Appstore on Android 12

The Amazon Appstore went haywire for the privileged few who had a chance to upgrade to Android 12 after its debut. In an Amazon forum from October 2021, users reported a host of issues that came about after upgrading to Android 12.

Some users reported not seeing any apps in the Appstore, some had issues with app launches, and the app prompted others to update their apps when no update was available.

Apps downloaded from Amazon's Appstore were nothing short of problems, either.

Thankfully, Amazon has fixed the issue on December 18, 2021. In a forum post, an Amazon staff said, "Our technical team provided us with an update regarding the issue with the Amazon Appstore on Android 12."

Amazon didn't officially confirm the main issue behind the technical hitch. That has led to various speculations on what might have been the root of the problem.

One speculation, in particular, attracted major attention—compatibility issues between Amazon Appstore's built-in DRM and Android 12.

One technical user in the forum solved the issue by decompiling the app and commenting out DRM-related lines of code, then repackaging the app again. But that's not for everyone, and thank goodness, the issue has been fixed by Amazon.

With that out of the way, perhaps it's time you upgraded to Android 12 if you feared facing issues with Amazon Appstore.
