First up, in a press release, Amazon announced three new sizes to the Fire TV Omni QLED Series. You can now purchase a 43-inch, 50-inch, and 55-inch TV with Quantum Dot technology for an improved picture compared to LED TVs. Find out some of the technology behind QLED and how it differs from LED and OLED.

All the smaller sizes will also support full-array local dimming with up to 96 zones and support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive.

The 43-inch model retails for $449.99 while the 50-inch model is $529.99. The 55-inch model is $599.99. All three can be pre-ordered now with shipments arriving starting on May 12, 2023.

Whenever it’s not being used, all the TVs in the Omni QLED Series will use built-in presence sensors to detect when someone enters the room. It will then switch to the Ambient Experience that can showcase schedules or reminders. You can also control smart home devices, like a thermostat or Ring doorbell, or play music.

The updated experience now also features more than 1,700 free gallery-quality pieces of art. You can learn about any of the art with an Alexa voice command.

Later in 2023, the Ambient Experience will feature dynamic art that changes based on the current environment.

On the lower end, the Fire TV 2-Series brings the built-on Fire TV experience to smaller sets. The 32-inch model, with 720p resolution, is $199.99. The larger 40-inch set provides 1080p resolution and is $249.99.

An Expanding Fire TV Empire

While Amazon Fire TV is most well known as an add-on streaming device, self-branded TVs are beginning to become more popular with the retail giant and other competitors.

Roku, another streaming pioneer, announced its own lineup of smart TVs at CES 2023 in Las Vegas.

With the announcement of the new sets, Amazon says it has sold more than 200 million Fire TV devices globally. And Amazon seems to be betting on its self-branded TV lineup to grow that number.

Making Streaming Entertainment Easy

Instead of having to worry about an add-on device, Amazon’s Fire TV makes it easy for anyone to get started with streaming entertainment. And expanding the lineup with lower-cost and more high-quality options should help Amazon continue to make inroads with consumers.
