The Rivian R1T is a truly revolutionary truck. This brutally powerful truck is quicker than most sports cars and packed to the gills with technology features that will leave you speechless. This article will explore five of the best tech features of the Rivian R1T.

1. Quad-Motor AWD

The Rivian R1T is equipped with a super-advanced all-wheel-drive system that honestly puts to shame any other manufacturer's AWD system. Most hardcore off-roaders use locking differentials to send torque where it needs to go. The best gasoline-powered off-roaders feature three locking diffs (the G-Wagen being a good example), but the Rivian goes one step further by offering a motor at each wheel.

Essentially, this allows the R1T to fine-tune the torque each wheel receives, and whenever slip is detected, the system adjusts accordingly, with amazing precision. In addition, a motor at each wheel allows for adjusting the power delivery in ways locking diffs could never achieve, and because the system doesn't lock the axles, it's safe to use on-road.

Traditional locking diffs would destroy the vehicle's powertrain if used on a paved road, but the Rivian's system is great for the road. The Quad-Motor AWD system isn't just great off-road; it's also an amazing tool to help the Rivian deliver power where it needs to in all situations, whatever the weather. The Rivian can perform torque vectoring with its four independent motors at each axle.

The motors also allow the R1T to boast performance that would make any supercar jealous, like the more than 800 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds. And yes, apparently, you can do tank turns on the right surface.

2. Gear Tunnel

The Gear Tunnel is a cavernous storage area hiding between the R1T's cabin and truck bed. This is the type of feature that nobody asked for, but once you own a vehicle that has it, you can't go back. The Gear Tunnel is good for 11.7 cu-ft of storage, including the useful little storage areas hidden in the door compartments.

This is a great feature if you need to hide something away but don't want to relegate it to the truck's bed. The Gear Tunnel is also a versatile area that doubles as a kitchen and can feed power to anything that might need electricity through the included power outlets.

The R1T is officially the best car in the world for a huge camping road trip. Nothing really compares in terms of versatility, capability, and ridiculous amounts of storage capacity. Between the frunk, the truck bed, and the Gear Tunnel, there's storage for anything you want to take with you, as well as anything your friends want to bring along. There's no doubt the R1T is among the best EV pickups, but the Gear Tunnel truly puts it above and beyond the competition.

3. Integrated Air Compressor

The Rivian R1T is an off-road monster, so there will surely come a time when the built-in air compressor will be extremely useful. Depending on the trail, airing down your tires may become necessary, and the Rivian has you covered. The R1T has an onboard air compressor built into the inner side of the truck bed.

To use it, all you have to do is connect a hose to the air compressor and set your desired pressure using the provided buttons. It is extremely simple and supremely useful if you aired down your tires and need to fill them up again. The Rivian's compressor will automatically stop sending air once the desired pressure has been achieved.

The air compressor is also useful for other things, like filling up air mattresses while on the trail or even inflating a basketball in need of air. It seems that whatever you may need, Rivian thought to add it to the R1T.

4. Gear Guard Security System

Rivian's Gear Guard is a built-in security system that utilizes five cameras throughout the truck, plus the gear cable. The gear cable is a metal-braided cable used to secure anything you might have on your truck's bed, like a bicycle. The way it works is by using the cameras scattered throughout the truck, even one in the front grille, to monitor whatever item you left behind.

The item is secured using Rivian's gear cable, which loops through whatever object you want to secure and then connects to a built-in locking receptor on the Rivian's bed. It basically acts like a bicycle chain without a combination, you simply plug in the gear cable's ends to the R1T and lock the vehicle.

Once the vehicle is locked, the plugged-in gear cable cannot be removed. If the vehicle detects any tampering with the cable, it will automatically activate the Gear Guard security system in order to monitor the surroundings and keep your gear safe.

5. Integrated Camp Kitchen

The Rivian R1T can be equipped with an integrated kitchen that slides right out of the Gear Tunnel. This officially makes it the best overlanding rig you can buy straight from the factory. The R1T's camp kitchen is equipped with a 1,440 watt induction stove. The great thing about the stove is that because it's a flat induction surface, you can heat up whatever you want very quickly and don't have to worry about the wind.

Once you're done using the camp kitchen, all you have to do is slide it back into the Gear Tunnel, and you're good to go to the next step of your adventure. The Rivian might not crack the list of the most affordable EVs any time soon, but you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

The Rivian R1T Is the Perfect Everything Truck

The R1T is arguably the best vehicle in the world. It does everything right and is equipped for any situation. You can take it off-road, on-road, and anything in between. It has a full kitchen, an advanced security system, and is also very comfortable and fast.

The Rivian also has excellent battery range, which makes it the perfect adventure vehicle. If there was one EV to own during a zombie apocalypse, the R1T would be a pretty strong contender.
