Various leakers are claiming Apple will unveil the AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi on May 18. Which would be sooner than anyone expected.

Is Apple Preparing to Launch the Third-Gen AirPods?

The new rumor suggests that Apple may release the third-generation of AirPods and a new premium tier of Apple Music called HiFi. After first being revealed by YouTuber Luke Miani, other leakers backed him up with their own leaks.

Miani tweeted "May 18" before reaching out to AppleTrack to provide further details. He alleges that Apple plans to announce the third-gen AirPods and Apple Music HiFi via a press release.

This wouldn't be the first time Apple has released a new product with a press release rather than a press event. It did so for the 2020 iPhone SE and the AirPods Pro.

After Miani's tweet and report, other leakers tweeted about the same rumor. Internal Store tweeted a quick rundown of the alleged press release, and Sam Kohl retweeted Miani with the eyes open emoji.

To reiterate, these are just rumors. As per usual, Apple will never confirm or deny any leaks or rumors, and different sources have different levels of credibility.

Details of the AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi

Apple Music HiFi has been rumored for a while. The rumors suggest that the new tier will feature higher quality HiFi sound, similar to that of Tidal music.

The third-gen AirPods are rumored to have a design update to look more similar to the AirPods Pro. EverythingApplePro showed the new design in a recent video. We could also see some of the Pro features, such as Active Noise Cancelling, coming to the third-gen AirPods.

Apple Might Find Itself With a Hat-Trick of Release Dates

If Apple does release the AirPods 3 and a HiFi Apple Music tier on May 18, the company will find itself with a hat-trick of releases. The Spring Loaded event took place in April, and WWDC starts on June 7.
