AI has revolutionized every industry around the globe. Whether it is self-driving cars, smart robots, or chatbots, almost all industries use some form of artificial intelligence to enhance their operations. The same is the case with modern Android apps that are packed with AI tools to automate your tasks.

AI image generators are a category of tools that allow you to create images, illustrations, and art by providing the app with a written description. The smart algorithms behind the apps decode that description and give you results in the form of images.

So, let’s look at some of the prominent Android AI image generators available on Google Play and put them to the test. To make the results comparable, we generated the same three samples with each app using prompts: “Ancient Civilization,” “Old Berlin,” and “Neon City.”

1. starryai

Like all the apps on this list, starryai lets you transform your ideas into art by generating images based on the text you provide. You can create various kinds of art with it without having to draw a single line.

To create your artwork, select Enter a Prompt on the home page, and on the next screen, type the description of the image you want to generate. You can also tap on Add Styles to create the image in a specific style. In addition, at the top of your screen, there is also an option to select the AI you’d like to use, each being suitable for particular purposes.

You also have Advanced Options at the bottom if you want to fine-tune your results even more. Once you’re done, tap on Create to generate your image. It also has a nifty little feature that saves all your work in My Collection so that you can use it later.

As you can see from the results, the first two images are pretty realistic, and the third one seems to be hand drawn and colored, making it rather artistic. Overall, the images are not bad at all and are usable. You can get creative with it and generate some interesting art pieces by tinkering with the settings.

The app works with credits you can purchase or earn by completing short tasks. If you keep completing the tasks, starryai stays free.

2. AI Art

AI Art is a minimal image generator for Android with a simple interface to let you quickly create images. You can apply various styles and, optionally, can enter a sample image to give the app an idea of what you’re looking for.

The app's home page has all the parameters that you need to produce your image. First, type your description in the Enter Your Prompt section, then select a style, and enter a sample image, if you have one. Once everything is in place, tap on Generate to let the AI do its magic.

The results of this app are more detailed than those of starryai. The building in the first image has more depth, and the “Old Berlin” image is aptly black and white. The third one also fits the “Neon City” description well.

Note that the app has some limitations in the free version. To get an ad-free experience and unlimited art creation, you need to subscribe to the premium version.

3. Photoleap AI Art

Photoleap is free and offers an excellent user interface. The actual image generation process is quite simple, and like other apps, it also lets you add styles to your images.

In addition to AI image generation, the app also provides image editing features for your artwork. The editor allows you to adjust the image with various tweaks, such as brightness, contrast, sharpness, and many more. You can also crop the image to align it with a required canvas or screen size.

To create an artwork, select Create With AI at the top of the home page. Now enter the description for the required artwork and choose a style for it. Once you’re ready, tap on Accept and Generate to complete the process.

The images created with Photoleap are among the best we have had from these apps. The first and third images are pretty artistic, while the second one tries to capture its description nicely. This, combined with the photo editing features, make Photoleap a great choice in this category.

4. Dawn

Dawn has a sleek design that makes it super simple to generate images. The Community Feed allows you to get inspiration from the artwork of other users. And the best thing about the Community Feed is that you can use the prompts or descriptions from others’ images.

Dawn has a robust style menu that even allows you to create your own custom styles. You can also choose from a list of options such as artwork, illustration types, trending styles, and many more.

It also has an interesting and fun feature called Sketch that allows you to draw a rough sketch for your required artwork rather than just typing in what you want. In addition, you can apply styles to it and add a description as well.

To create your artwork, first, choose between Text and Sketch. After that, enter your prompt, add your preferred style, and select the aspect ratio for the image. Once ready, tap on Generate Images.

The first image generated using Dawn is a bit of a blur with very little detail. However, the second and third images are artistic, colorful, and detailed. The app has potential, though, and you might get the desired result by regenerating the one you don’t like.

Note that the free version has some limitations, such as watermarks on the images, saving results, and a slower generation speed. You can unlock the full power of the app with in-app purchases.

5. Vision

Vision displays its results with several variants that allow you to choose from different versions of the artwork it creates. You can also get high-definition results for your images.

Like the above apps, creating images is simple with Vision: Enter your prompt, choose a preferred style, and tap Generate Art. It will take some seconds to generate the results for you, and will notify you when the artwork is ready. You can access your images in the My Arts section.

The results we got from Vision are different compared to the other apps. While the images are not realistic, they do carry a certain artistic feel to them. They seem like handmade paintings, which makes Vision a good choice for generating this kind of art.

While on the subject, do check out ways in which AI-generated art is changing the future of art.
