We learned last month that Adobe's big annual event, the MAX Conference, had to be made entirely virtual once more. It looks like the same is true for IxDD 2021, so be sure to mark your calendar!

About IxDD 2021: Solidarity and Transformation

On Friday, the official Twitter account of Adobe Design and Layout announced the date for the 2021 edition of World Interaction Design Day (IxDD): September 28, 2021. It's presented, as always, in partnership with the Interaction Design Association (IxDA).

The event, which is fully online again this year, will include presentations, workshops, design showcases, and knowledge sharing following the theme of Solidarity and Transformation. Adobe writes:

The events of the past year opened the doors for interaction design to change how we work, connect and live. For World Interaction Design Day 2021, we’ll explore how designers help us to adapt to a changing world, understand new ideas, and find ways to thrive despite the challenges.

Like some of the trends listed in Adobe's 2021 Creative Trends report, the theme of IxDD 2021 was chosen in attempt to help remedy some of the challenges presented by the spread of COVID-19.

The event has three supporters (we're convinced that's just what Adobe wants to call them instead of "sponsors"): The Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA)Cumulus, and Ladies that UX.

Since there are going to be regional livestream events all around the world, there are 16 members of the committee from 11 different countries. Every country is listed below with its representative(s):

  1. US – Scott Belsky, Kevitha Krishnan, Tom Beck
  2. Canada – Branda Sanderson, Lindsay Munro
  3. India – Sonia Manchanda
  4. France – Frederic Degouzon
  5. China – Xiao Yong
  6. Japan – Yuichi Inobori
  7. South Africa – Kelo Kubu
  8. Germany – Andre Jay Meissner
  9. Myanmar – Phyu Mon
  10. Netherlands – Birgit Geiberger Boersma
  11. Argentina – B Adrian Somoza, Pato Torello

IxDD's itinerary focuses on the process of creating interactive digital products, environments, and services—so it probably isn't everyone's jam. Still, Adobe says you're welcome to attend even if you aren't an interaction designer.

But if you're looking to become one, make sure you understand the difference between UI and UX design.

Keep Tabs on Adobe IxDD 2021

So far, not much information has been released on IxDD 2021. Neither a schedule nor a list of speakers/lecturers has been shared as of yet. You can keep checking the site for updates, or simply sign up for e-mail alerts.

The bottom of the IxDD 2021 website features the hashtags #IxDD and #CreatewithAdobeXD. Presumably, if you're going to tweet about the event, Adobe wants you to add these to your caption.

Other questions, should you have any, can be sent to the IxDD 2021 team at ixdd@adobe.com.
