Are you a digital artist? If you work from a tablet or even your phone, you may be curious to know what Adobe has introduced with its latest update for Fresco.

After reading about Adobe Fresco 3.6, it may become your newest digital art tool right at the tip of your fingers. Here, we'll discuss what's new in this update.

Adobe announced its newest update to Fresco. Once again, the creative giant has been at it with this updated portable digital art app. This update comes a month after April’s release, which included introducing reference layers, recent brush memory, perspective grid capture, and anime brushes, to name a few.

Although Fresco is not a part of Adobe Creative Cloud, you can use it in conjunction with cloud software.

What Are Adobe Fresco’s New Features?

The 3.6 update brings some new features you may have pined for as they’ve been present in other Adobe software for a long time. Now, it’s finally the turn of the portable app to relish in these artistic tools. Let’s jump in.

1. Magic Wand Tool

The magic wand allows you to select larger areas of color and edit the selection to better suit your chosen area. You can use this to modify colors, move sections of your art, or focus on a particular area.

If you’re an Adobe Lightroom user, you may already have used a tool like this to select skies or large areas of the landscape to re-color them. But in digital art software, you can use a magic wand tool for so much more.

2. Liquify Tool

You can use the new liquify tool in multiple ways. Whether you want to add a dramatic pattern to your art, suggest subtle movement, or resize an area of your work, the liquify tool can do all that and more.

With Liquify, you can pucker, twist, move, and smudge in all directions and at different intensities. This tool is great for minor tweaks as well as major distortions.

Is Adobe Fresco Free?

Since its inception, Adobe has offered Fresco as a free app, and that's still the case after the Fresco 3.6 update. The free version offering a selection of features is still available as it always has been. However, the premium version, which adds extra features, brushes, shapes, and more now costs just $9.99 a year, putting Fresco in direct competition with Procreate.

You can find Adobe Fresco on the App Store for iPhone and iPad users with iOS 14 or later. If you’re a Windows user, you can download and install Fresco from Adobe's site as long as your system runs Windows 11 version 22000, Windows 10 version 1903, or later. Adobe highly recommends using a stylus along with a pressure-sensitive tablet.
