Flash games were once the staple diet of internet users who were searching for five minutes of fun during their coffee break.

Now, Adobe has confirmed that it plans to retire Flash in January 2021, killing every Flash game you ever enjoyed.

Adobe to Block Flash Content in January 2021

Adobe has updated the Flash Player End of Life General Information Page to reflect the date that it plans to end the service; January 12th, 2021.

We already know that Adobe planned to end Flash in 2020. It announced its intentions back in July 2017, and many developers have now removed Flash from their platforms entirely.

However, we now know that Adobe plans to block all Flash content, including Flash games, in 2021.

Why is Adobe Blocking Flash Player?

Once a program reaches its end-of-life date, its developer won't support it with updates any more. This includes security updates, which are important when it comes to the likes of Flash Player.

Without these important security updates, less-than-savory characters will exploit the software so that it, in turn, exploits users.

Adobe is blocking all Flash content to protect users' systems, so that individuals with ulterior motives can't exploit weaknesses in the code to gain access to your computer via a browser game.

Will You Still Be Able to Access Flash Games?

If you use Flash Player to access your Flash games, then you won't be able to play them anymore.

That's right, no more Frogger or QWOP in your Flash Player, because Adobe is removing the ability to play any Flash games, blocking all app activity after January 12th, 2021.

If you play games available on Flash, we suggest you find other sources to grab your favorite Flash games.

QWOP, for example, is available on Android and iOS, so you can download it for your smartphone or tablet. Although the lack of a physical keyboard might make controlling that game even more difficult!

What if You Still Have Flash Player on Your PC or Mac?

If you still have Flash Player on your Mac or PC then Adobe compels you to uninstall it with immediate effect.

Once Adobe retires and ultimately blocks Flash, you won't be able to play any Flash games or run any Flash content.

Adobe announced the end of Flash back in 2017, giving everyone ample notice to find an alternative, including Flash game devs.

Many game devs have, in turn, moved their Flash titles to other platforms that are more stable and which enjoy continued support from the platform creator.
