1More ComfoBuds Mini

1More's latest true wireless earbuds come with a lofty claim: the ComfoBuds Mini are the smallest ANC buds in the world. We have no way of verifying that, but here's what we do know: the ComfoBuds Mini are indeed tiny. So tiny that they might be the comfiest earbuds you could ever hope to wear, and yet despite their minute stature, they deliver a punchy audio experience, ANC, excellent microphones, and more.

So, should you pick up a pair of the "world's smallest earbuds"? Take a look through our 1More ComfoBuds Mini review to find out.

1More ComfoBuds Mini Style

The clue is in the name—Mini—but it isn't until you unwrap the ComfoBuds Mini that you begin to realize just how small these buds are. The ComfoBuds Mini weigh 3.7g/0.13oz per bud, which is easily one of the lightest earbuds around. For comparison, Anker's Soundcore Life P3 buds weigh 4.8g/0.17oz each, while Apple AirPods Pro weigh in at 5.4g/0.19oz. A difference of a gram or two between earbuds doesn't sound like much, but when you're wearing something for hours at a time, those minute differences add up.

Along with the weight, the overall 1More ComfoBuds Mini earbud is also something to behold. As you might expect, the Mini buds have a tiny footprint, no bigger than your thumbnail (yes, you read that right), which adds to the overall feeling that you're using something Lilliputian, perhaps designed to fit the ears of a doll.

But then, when you take them out of the smooth and nicely rounded carry case and pop them into your ears, it's like wearing nothing at all. Once you find a comfortable position, the ComfoBuds Mini remain securely locked, never feeling like they might suddenly decide to evade your ear while walking or even while running. And, on the last note, yes, these buds are actually useful if you want to use them for exercise, also coming with a handy IPX5 water resistance rating.

But it's not all clean sailing for these tiny wonders. Despite the ComfoBuds Mini packing heaps into the tiny frame, the actual size of the buds will cause issues for some users. I don't have particularly large hands and found it tricky to remove the buds from their case from time to time. Those with larger hands and fingers may find the ComfoBuds Mini excessively fiddly.

Similarly, I also don't have very big ears and definitely have small ear canals, which means finding a tight and comfortable fit for these buds was simple. But those with larger ear canals are going to want to play around with ear tip fittings (there are four sets of ear tips in total) and may decide to eschew these buds altogether. You don't know until you try, of course, but the tiny size lends itself to those with "smaller" features.

1More ComfoBuds Mini Battery Life and Connectivity

The ComfoBuds Mini deliver a reasonable five hours of battery life with ANC enabled, rising to six with ANC switched off. You'll also add up to 25 hours of playback from the carry case, depending on your ANC settings. During testing, the battery ratings appear accurate enough, which is good. Overall, the ComfoBuds Mini battery life is decent enough. You won't be writing home about it, but the combination of on-bud and carry case reserve battery should keep you going all day.

If you begin to run low, you can grab around 60 minutes of playback on a rapid five-minute charge, which is very handy.

In terms of connectivity, the ComfoBuds Mini use Bluetooth 5.2, which means they connect rapidly and once connected stream audio with excellent clarity. The ComfoBuds Mini support the AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs, but nothing like aptX or aptX Adaptive, either of which would be a welcome addition. Now, there is nothing wrong with AAC and SBC, and they're the default Bluetooth codecs you'll find on most wireless earbuds and headphones, but the lack of a codec that enables at least some higher bitrate audio streaming is a slight disappointment.

1More ComfoBuds Mini Companion App

If you want to expand your ComfoBuds Mini experience, the 1More Music companion app is a useful tool. It's available for Android and iOS and comes equipped with some useful features.

For example, you can use the 1More Music app to create a unique sound profile for the earbuds, tuned to your ears. The result of this "hearing test" wasn't entirely clear to me, but the EQ created from my inputs definitely adjusted the overall sound of the buds, largely for the better. However, there is no option to create a custom EQ within the app, just the sound test EQ.

You can also adjust the ComfoBuds Mini touch controls from the app, swapping out the default option of Play/Pause and Voice Control found on both buds for other options.

Nestled in the app's settings are two other intriguing options. One is for Smart Burn-In, an option that will play a tone or series of tones through your earbuds to "burn-in" the driver. Whether or not you believe in earbud and headphone burn-in, it's interesting to see a company offering this feature outright.

Second is a listing for Experimental Features, under which you'll find an option for Sleep Detection, which detects when you've fallen asleep with the buds in listening to integrated soothing sounds, and Pairing Pop-Up Window, which displays the earbuds battery life in an overlay once they connect to your device.

1More ComfoBuds Mini Sound Quality and ANC

When you see earbuds this small, your immediate thoughts turn to sound quality. How can buds this size produce a decent sound? Is it even possible?

Thankfully, the ComfoBuds Mini's 7mm drivers deliver a substantial sound, and better still, the audio quality is resoundingly good. They won't blow you away with audiophile quality, but the ComfoBuds Mini hit the mark more often than not when challenged with different genres. The overall soundstage is wide enough to encapsulate the full range of frequencies, and you won't find much distortion if you decide to crank up the volume.

They pack a punch, too. Bass is the flavor here, but it's not so overdone as to critically affect the mids and high-end, which come through loud and clear when desired. In addition, the mids sound good, and while they could use a little more breathing room to allow instruments to shine fully, you won't find the end product an issue. It's a similar story for the high-end, which are, all things considered, tight and accurate, pushing back from any tinny temptations.

Using the 1More Music companion app's unique EQ feature does make a worthwhile difference. For me, it smoothed the bass out a little, rounding out the overall sound. However, given this is a personal feature, your mileage will vary.

It's a similar story for the ComfoBuds Mini's ANC. Despite the size of the buds, the ANC works really well and is better than you'd expect. Switching the earbuds to Strong ANC blocks a significant amount of noise from your local environment. Given the price of the earbuds, the level of ANC is plenty good.

You'll also find Mild ANC and WNR ANC (wind noise reduction), both of which are okay, but the Strong mode is most effective (as you might expect). There's also a Transparency Mode that allows you to hear your surroundings, but it suffers the same issues as any other transparency mode, where local sounds are amplified through the microphones rather than just passing through.

Are the 1More ComfoBuds Mini Worth the Money?

In a saturated earbud market, how can your product stand out? 1More's answer is size, and the ComfoBuds Mini absolutely live up to the name. Comfortable for prolonged listening sessions, absolutely minute in size, the ComfoBuds Mini deliver the goods in a teeny, tiny package. All in all, I've been impressed with these buds during my time testing them.

Retailing for $99, the 1More ComfoBuds Mini are a great shout if you're looking for ANC earbuds under $100.
