I think you need a more up to date scanner
It is entirely possible. You simple create a very black background and in the optimal lighting you will see your reflection.

I was thinking the exact same thing, it would be so cool if light can reflect off the screen and its possible.
its totally possible i use to have a pda that had a mirror app on it.
Switch monitor off.
