Buy the Way, the D-Day was totally a Canadian Win!

“Excuse me, Mr. German. I’m really sorry to bother you because I can see that you’re terribly busy firing your machine gun at my colleagues, but if you could move off this beach, we’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much. Sorry about the carnage.”

      • Jacob Rothenbush

Clearly you know nothing about history Dwcsite. “By war’s end, 1 million citizens would have served in military uniform,
and Canada would possess the fourth largest air force and third largest
surface fleet in the world.” Also, “By the end of D-Day, the Canadians had penetrated deeper into France
than either the British or the American troops at their landing sites,
overcoming stronger resistance than any of the other beachheads except Omaha Beach.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_Canada_during_World_War_II

Eventhough i have no heistation in believing your claims, using Wikipedia as a source is far from beeing scientific… The kontinental-European perception of the Canadian involvement in the war is somewhat of a lapdog to the British, almost on the same grounds as South Africa, India and Austr./New Zealand… Ofcourse thats not true, and thank god for Canada, but for some Europeans (and I’m not German, but Scandinavian) its impossible for us to understand that level of loyalty towards an Empire thousands of miles away from their homeworlds, still even in 2011. Its sickens me…

          • Jonathan Levesque

How ’bout loyalty to the human race? To peace? :D

          • Christian Julius

As an ‘ancient’,I still remember the first allied troops into Amsterdam were Canadians.
            Thanks guys !

          • dano

ah…scandinavian.  nothing more to see here.

        • Tony

Thanks for the post, Jacob. That’s interesting. I never knew that. Also, for the wikipedia haters out there, it’s a totally valid place for picking up quick easy quotes about things that are already common knowledge to the researcher. You just have to make sure, when you’re stepping out of your comfort zone, to pay attention to the references, and to treat anything that lacks references with a grain of salt. And remember, it’s just as easy to bend the truth in any other medium.

        • Angus

canada did not have armoured tanks divisions waiting in reserve that would slow the british troopss down a lot and please don’t use wikipedia as an historical reference

    • Guillaume Filion

By the way les canadiens on bien fait ce qu’ils avais à faire sois prendre une plage sans résistance ;)

Twat, that has to be the most interesting thing a Canadian has said in almost 400 years. You know the USA fly a Chinook over Canada once a year carrying a huge 400ft mirror, just to see if you guys are still breathing

    • dano

Sure take credit for it now since most of you goddamn francophones were objectors and/or nazi sympathizers.

      Never been to Italy?
Those ‘nostalgic’ for the Mussolini era always will tell you that at least he made the trains run on time.

  • Praxeda

War started 101.09.1939 when they attacked Poland, not when UK said so…

    • I Don’t Know Much

Germany’s war on Poland started 01.09.1939, but the World War officially started on the 03.09.1939

    • Don

Yes, but the war proceeded very slowly (they called it in jest the Sitskrieg) until mid 1940, when Germany overran the Low Countries and began an end run around the French defenses to capture Paris… Only then did the British send large numbers of troops onto the Continent, effectively beginning the land war in earnest.

    • Doom

Twat, War is declared when there is valid retaliation, Germany did not see worthy retaliation from Poland, France etc when they walked over them. 101st Sep 1939 is not even a date……..

    • Quimoi

Ultimatum ran out on September 3rd. Before that, it was a war between Germany and Poland.

  • Natata555

but Russia AND many other countries were called THE SOVIET UNION …  why ignore that?? otherwise great an fun!:)))

    • Triffic37

      Soviet Union gets a mention

  • Mumblin

VERY well done! But where is Canada!!

    • Asdf

Canada is just north of the United States. Use an atlas, jeez. ;P

      • Normgreen

I know where Canada is but where is this place called “United States”??

    • SkinnyPuff

Canada is included in the United Kingdom because it was their colony

      • Mini_foot

Canada wasn’t included in the Unieted Kingdom at the beginning of the war. Canada is a country since 1932.

        • guest

By the way, Canada is country is a country since 1867…you are referring to  the Statute of  Westminster of 1931 which allowed Canada legislative independence…

        • Jess

1867 actually. Although, WWII was the first time Canada entered the war under their own influence and not the UK.

Btw the Nazis regarded the japanese, Iranians, and Indians (from India) in equal status to them. They were all Aryans (The Japanese were honorary Aryans).

Hitler never regarded the Chinese and Japanese as inferior, according to Mein Kampf, in fact he praised their past.

  • Daveaaa588

Actualy old chap the British 1st wave on Sword were street fighting around Luc Sur Mer and there objectives were to take certain strong points in and around the beach heads , i.e Cod , Trout  to take the Radar Station at Douvres ,maybe thats why the British hadn,t advanced further than what they did ?? , also what a misinformed person you are , canadians as lap dogs ??? get a life , My father was the 1st wave ashore on D Day on Sword took heavy casualties lost 4 of their officers and guess what one Officer was a Canloan , who the troops had great respect for , so get a life talk to a veteran instead of believing everything thats written in the books , you can pick up 4 books on D Day written by different authors and can guarantee they all have either added or omitted different things from “THEIR” accounts of what happened!!

Also the area in and around the east of Caen (Chateau La Londe ) was known as the “Bloodiest Square Mile in Normandy on D Day” FACT (British Sector)

    Just remember this saying :-
Cheese , as it matures it gets get better , just like some of the stories .

Obviously made by Americans.. The excuse for using the atomic bombs on Japan is still funny, but leaves kind of a foul taste in the back of my mouth…

haha, but you have forgot to write about soviet’s spy in the White House, which helped Mr. President in leaving Poland under ZSRR direction :P
and about the soviet’s spy in The Manhattan Project – when Roosevelt told Stalin about the “special” bombs, S. already knew much better than him what it is and how it works… ohhh, Russia had won whole event :]

  • lupi

I’m really loving the comments about the bombs and Japan being “mistreated”. Look, this article was intended for comedic purposes and they didn’t mention Japan’s Unit 731, okay, you fucking weeaboos? Get over it!
