I feel so bad that you, (Godless and Satan) feel this way? I used to feel that that too! I had some horrible things happen in my childhood and blamed God for that… it wasn’t until I met Him that I finally understood Him! That will be my prayer for both of you, that you have an encounter like I did!!! I used to think it was about religion, until I discovered the truth!

  • Ben

That is a really ignorant thing to say. I am not a christian, I do not believe in any sort of god at all, but I know from history we have many professors and scholars that have spent countless decades of their lives devoted to that religion. Sure, there are some Christians that may not do their homework and may be a bit clueless and trust in the men that have done their research, but that does not mean no one reads or does their homework. You guys need to think about freedom of religion. Just because they are ignorant of life and science does not mean you need to be an asshole. You should be above that, right? Otherwise you are no better than them. Don’t be a jerk to your fellow man that is trying to find peace in his life, it is cruel.

    • T. Roll

What the fuck is your problem, it just says “most” Christians, which is true! Hardly any have read the Bible all the way through. They’ve probably heard many of the stories and whatnot, but I guarantee it’s close to 90% that haven’t read it. Yet they devote themselves to God… it’s mad.

      • Me

It’s hard to explain knowing God, and I assure you, that you don’t need to read the entire Bible to know God. It’s like reading a computer manual (or the lack there of). You don’t know how your computer works inside and out, yet you trust it to get you on the internet and do other minimal tasks. That’s right, the Bible is like a computer manual. You can get the most out of your computer if you know exactly how it works. Same with believing in God; believing is the first step. . .after that, you read the Bible as guidance to life and to help keep yourself afloat. It’s a great resource when you’re sad, angry, or whatever. But this is fairly difficult to explain, and hard for someone who hasn’t experienced it, to really understand.

        • briansmoke

Experience this – You don’t need to read the whole bible.

What about the bits where “God” tells “Moses” to take his men to the midianites and kill them all – men, women and boys. “He” tells “Moses” to inspect the girls for virginity, and if they’ve not had sex, “Moses” and his men can have these girls for themselves. Numbers 31:7-18 if you want to read it.

The bible is a work of fiction. It was based on myth and stories. It if full of repeated stories, with differing characters and outcomes. It commands us to murder, rape and pillage – then it commands us never to do that. It commands us to use “ethnic cleansing” (cultural mass murder) – then it commands us never to do that. It condones the beating of slaves – then it commands us that you should perhaps not do that. For people to either not read the whole thing is a shame. I’ve read it, and it is pretty gruesome, and clearly written by powerful men to subdue the masses.

Personally speaking I don’t hate “god”. There is no “god” to hate. I would probably reserve word that for a real person, such as Adolf Hitle, Pol Pot, Slobedan Milosevic or Charles Taylor (if he’s found guilty), who perpetrated murder against specific groups of people because of who they were.

          • briansmoke

PLEASE EVERYONE, READ THE BIBLE. Then you’d be able to make your own decisions, based on the “truth” of the confusing, misleading, racist, misogynist, genocidal, scary stuff contained within. You’d be ashamed to call yourself anything other than a realist and a non-theist – that is unless you believed the nonsense you’d read, and were actually scared to deny that the confusing, misleading, racist, misogynist, genocidal”god” character might do something bad to you unless you became subservient to “him”. The bible is either 100% true or 100% false as a work of historical prophecy, or 100% true or 100% false as a work of fiction, based on superstitions and people’s darkest fears.

Christians, unfortunately often admit to only reading bits they are advised to read. Mostly bits of the New Testament. Chiristianity has benefitted greatly from playing on peoples fears, and giving them a few philosophical boxes to tick to save them from damnation.

Christianity is a business, its a FACT. They provide a service to the people every week by promising life after death. And, every week poor people dump around 10-30% of all the money the…y make that week and give it to the church. They make billions a year off poor gullible people hoping that they can be reunited with their dead loved ones.

Christianity is the mythology of today. The ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptian mythologies were all once huge religions, until those countries got taken over. In 1000 when there is a new popular religion (hopefully people will evolve past the need for religion), people will study and laugh at how stupid people were for following this shit. Just like we do now with the Egyptian religion. Half men, half animal gods.

    • Anybodys

But where does that money go? As a pastor’s daughter, I can tell you that I never see it, it goes to the less fortunate and to fight World Hunger and to providing clothes/shelter/mesquito nets/etc to people in Africa and all over the world. I don’t have to have met God to know he exists, I see his work every day. Without Religion, I would have killed myself years ago.

      • Something

        ….

        LOL…. Yea that is all.

      • Barbarian

As a pastor’s daughter I can guarantee that you have been fed an elaborate story your entire life, which you now perceive as truth. You can choose to believe that the money the majority of Christian churches take in goes to buy mosquito nets for poor Africans, etc, but this is not the case. Religions such as the Catholic faith are incredibly powerful and wealthy organizations, bordering on being mafia-like cults. I’m sorry you couldn’t find something more real in our beautiful world other than religion as a reason to stay alive.

      • gobbles

of course the pastors don’t see any of the money. A small portion goes to things like that. Look at Vatican City, one of the richest places on Earth. The money goes to the top people of the religion.
Im sorry you had to grow up in an environment like that. please try and find something worth living for, killing yourself is the cowardly way out.

it also goes to keep up the largest porn library on the planet (come on, do you really think these supposedly abstinent guys are just following the evil ways of the people, we are in sin for looking at one and they scour the globe for as much as they can get (and don’t say they don’t read it)), and the gold and jewel encrusted jewelry and garments for those that say the people of their flock should do without. ha, they are the true sinners.

        • george

and i know they help people, but at what financial cost long term. they give a family that makes the equivalent of 3 dollars a week 6 nets that cost 50 cents each then tell them they should give a percentage of the 3 bucks to the church FOREVER.
like the business someone else wrote i doubt and would be extremely surprised if they spend even half of they’re income on charity, probably way less.
i know they have bills too but don’t forget how well they are at getting lots of things and services free or at cost, not to mention the tax free status in the us. do you know how much some of they’re real estate taxes would be without it ? i bet they have a little chuckle watching us scramble to pay our ever increasing rates while sit high on the hog with some of the most expensive real estate out there.

      • FreedomFromFaith

well you’d better come up with a better reason to live then because one of these days your going to realize that religion is a lie and god is just as real as santa claus and the easter bunny. the universe is a beautiful place, if you can look out at it and not find a reason to live without relying on an imaginary friend to comfort you you’ve got a serious problem.

    • Djburke87

The funny things about them “promising life after death” is that they don’t. You don’t pay to get into heaven. It doesn’t matter if you don’t give a single penny. People will still be forgiven for their sins no matter what they are if they believe in Jesus. And no real Christian believes that they will be reunited with loved ones. The Bible says that when we go to heaven no one will recognize anyone because heaven is painless, and if a loved one was not in heaven it would cause pain to that individual.

The difference between Christianity and other “religions” is: we are not part of a religion, we are in a relationship with God. Egyptian myths and God were not based on facts. Christianity is not some fad that Jesus came up with.

Maybe if you learned a little bit about Christianity then you could bash it, but until then you should probably stop embarrassing yourself.

      • Fake

Let’s get a reference for this explanation of how heaven works

      • Barbarian

Christianity has little or no facts behind it either…other than what was created to sustain the religion, and interpreted by countless priests/pastors over the centuries. Every religion has believers who think as you do about your religion… it’s necessary for these stories to continue to be passed on as if reality. Once you get to the point that you believe you are “talking to God” however, there is little hope left for you to ever see life as it actually is again.

      • Anonymous

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. BASED ON FACTS. OH MAN YOU’RE HILARIOUS

      • gobbles

I don’t know who mean by “them” and “they” in your first sentence. But if you mean the Christian church, then you are very mistaken.
Also I have news for you. You are in a religion. If you practice what the Bible says, that makes you part of the Christian system. You are also trying to tell me that you have a closer relationship with your “God” than any other religion. Is it because you pray to him and he will answer your prayers. Because when I was young, I would write letters to Santa Claus… I guess that’s not the same. Santa Claus actually Santa Clause answered my letters. Unlike the still darkness after you pray.
You say that the Egyptian myths were not based on facts.
NEITHER IS CHRISTIANITY!! it is a book of fairy tales to keep people scared of the world.
Just for your information I went to church every week, I studied all the passages, I read the whole bible from cover to cover. I looked upon it when I was in need of help. Then I grew up and looked at it logically.

Here are some facts maybe you would like to learn yourself.
-The Bible was put together over 500 years after Jesus died. Who were these people that put it together and edited it, not Jesus’ disciples.
-The Christianity is a mixture of pagan holidays and traditions.
-ie Jesus was actually born in the summer, x-mas is in December to replace the pagan winter solstice.
-Jesus’ actual name was Joshua. If you translate the name of the main person of your whole religion wrong, what else is wrong?

the more you know eh? The more you learn about what Christianity is actually about, the easier it is to make fun of all of you who believe in this make believe.
You should be embarrassed for believing in a book of fairy tales all of your life.

        • Me

So you are judging God on things that don’t matter? No one knew Jesus’ actual birthday, so they chose a day… Christianity is not a mix of pagan holidays, Christmas sadly is. And does it really matter whether or not Jesus’ name was Jesus or not? Doesn’t mean that God isn’t real. Oh, and by the way…The Bible helps encourage people to face the world, not cower by insults and threats.

        • DarwinIsDead

Dude, how can someone as confused and wrong as you be so sure of himself?

You apparently never had a real faith in God, but somehow thought He was like Santa Clause, who would grant you your every request, like a mgic genie in a bottle. What a simpleton. (By the way, that wasn’t Santa Claus who answered your letter. There is no Santa Claus. You seem not to know the difference between the truth and myths.)

First, your view of God and his word, the Bible, are woefully distorted. Yes, God does not speak in an audible voice to us (although he could and at times has), but by studying his word, the Bible, we will receive His guidance and direction in making the correct decisions that are pleasing to Him. What God has in store for you often is not what you want and being a Christian is no guarantee God will protect you from harm. In fact, Jesus promised followers of God would suffer hardship. You should but away your childish thoughts about God and become a responsible, thinking adult.

You believe you are thinking “logically”, but you are thinking as a person mired in the world, and not as God would have you think. Reading the Bible from cover to cover, especially as a child, does not guarantee a relationship with God, which is what you were and are missing. You were created for God; He is not your magic talisman but your Creator and Father in Heaven, should you choose Him.

You reveal your ignorance about what Chrisianity truly is, even though you claim to know. Saying the Bible is a “book of fairy tales” proves you know nothing and believe nothing of substance.

Now it is time you truly did grow up. Go back and really read and study your Bible, in a good Bible-teaching church, and this time strive to please God, and not seek something for yourself. By taking such a selfless approach, you will be blessed.

    • DarwinIsDead

Garsh, what a simpleton you are. Since you don’t know what a business is and state your opinion is a “FACT”, you clearly cannot be trusted on anything you say. And clearly you know absolutely nothing about what the Bible says (it is God’s word, and that is in fact a FACT) or true, bible-teaching Christianity.

You have been filling your so-called mind with rot from PBS and Discovery Channel “documentaries” and spew out their distorted story lines like a dog eating its vomit, without any thought to what you are saying. The Bible is historically, geopgraphically, geologically and scientifically accurate. The fact that many cultures have mythologies and false religions and gods does not mean the Bible (the truth) is not true. And just because you don’t want to believe the truth doesn’t mean the turth is a “mythology”. The truth of these false religions is that men would chose to believe in anything but the one true God.

Must be a typo, but the year 1000 has already past. And, by the way, Judaism has been around for several thousand years, and Christianity, which is Judaism (Jesus was born 2000 years ago to a Jewish woman and taught from the Old Testment), is still around, because it is the truth. If your “theory” were true, Christianity would have been debunked and died a thousand years ago.

You are further proof that most people will refuse to believe the truth, yet will believe all kinds of unsporrted drivel. Wise up, dude. You are sooooo wrong.

      • george

so you were there then i take it? a FACT? are you serious? what is fact about ” IT IS GODS WORD” it may be something you believe but that does NOT MAKE IT FACT.
I can’t help but wander why it was rewritten and reinterpreted several times, who the hell was king james to have his own VERSION?
You are welcome to BELIEVE what you like but DO NOT tell me something is a fact when there is ZERO supporting EVIDENCE. when i see that i will change my mind

  • Theresnoeffingway

Have any of you believers given real logical thought to the idea of an “All Powerful God”?

Can God create a stone so heavy that even He can’t lift it?

If He does create a stone so heavy that He can’t lift it, then He is not all powerful.

If He isn’t able to create a stone so heavy that He can’t lift if, then He is not all powerful because he can’t create a stone He cannot lift.

    Think about it.

    • WalkaMah

haha nice. hopefully that’ll shut some of them up. that’s genius!

    • Goji

Actually, since the concepts of density, mass, volume, weight and force only really exist within the construct of whatever this universe is (as best as anyone knows), an all powerful being could feasibly split the universe in two, making both of those scenarios come true and thus proving his almightyness. Just because you cannot conceive of it, does not mean your logic is worth while. There’s no god. But you’re still dumb as shit.

      • Harry Richards

      • Jeremie

MMhhh… serious case of intolerance. You’re good in english but not in reasoning. I’m not good either in english but I will try something… Just to explain what Mary7 likely tought about, I would take the following example: a math teacher is to make a theorem demonstration at the blackboard. Suddenly a student stops the teacher and tells there is a better way to prove the theorem. The teacher, knowing that the student is heading into confusing ‘proof’ let him finish untill he freezes in front of the blackboard, unable to finish his reasoning. Letting the student continue was definitely the best strategy to adopt.
This is what long-suffering of God is all about. Giving a clear answer to those stating that mankind doesn’t need God to survive and rule over the earth.

        • Free

What a horrible excuse for your religion.

        • Open your eyes

This is flawed reasoning. Using this train of thought you would give your two year old child a knife to play with until he or she learned not to cut themselves. Unfortunately, religious people will never open their eyes because they always use the blanket “faith” approach or come up with some flawed reasoning like above. How can you ignore the millions of facts, proof, and historical facts disproving God and then pick one or two schoolhouse examples and twist them to “help” explain your beliefs. I do think, however, that in the next 1,000 years religion will fade away as mankind progresses. Only then will the wars around the world end and mankind, as a species, will live in peace.

          • Brandonhaviland

I agree with you 100%. Religion is only for people who need answers for all questions about life, the universe and everything. They can not handle the fact that they are the only ones in control of their life. Also the Egyptian religion was around for roughly 6000 years. Three times as long as the Catholic religion and everybody now regards it as complete crap. This is what will eventually happen to all religions today proving that it is all garbage.

          • DOGMAII

please explain to me the “benefits” you speak of. for they escape me. religion is for people afraid to die. people who need there to be a place to go after this one. THERE ISNT SUCH A PLACE!! so quit being a little bitch and live THIS life instead of praying for a different one. the sooner the world realizes that this is the only chance they get the sooner everybody will be happy. i mean damnit, if you want something, go get it. dont pray for it. praying is just another great example of how gravity works by holding down all of your moronic lie filled heads. so i ask again, please show me the benefits of religion.

          • Penguin10 0

Religion is just a simple way to make sense out of a world we obviously know almost nothing about. To say that the end of someones life leads to nothing is just as ignorant as saying that the end of their life leads to heaven or hell. How can you explain something you’ve never seen. If you cant even fathom what this world has then how on earth can you say that the after life brings only this or that. What i mean by fathom is that no body can answer the “why.” They have to make it up.(AKA religion) I believe there is a higher power but not that any one religion or belief is right or that it takes any real form. “God” is everthing and nothing at the same time. I believe that human beings have as much control over their after life as they do in their current life. I believe that the god that everyone seems to think controls everything or controls nothing is somewhere in between. Most people think way to black and white for my taste. That is what causes the conflict. Live and let live or die.

          • http://twitter.com/pr0x1 pr0x1

Just because there are few smart people among billions sheep. Does not make those small amount of people wrong. If you choose to believe, you need to prove that it is fact. Not the people that don’t believe in it. As long as that is not happening, the people that do not share your believe are allowed to make fun of you.

          • Iamgod13189

“Without religion, we’d have good people doing good things, and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”~Stephen Weinberg.

The only reason religion still exists is because some people are too lazy to figure out the real explanations for everything and other people use it as an excuse to do horrible things. That’s about it.

          • HaL

Benefits of religion? There are none. You speak of people referring to themselves as open-minded and not accepting whatever your foolish believes are. How can that be? It’s simple, it is that of a closed-minded person that would accept a faith. You are closing your mind to the actualities of the Universe and locking it away in your silly readings. I do not agree with the statement “I do think, however, that in the next 1,000 years religion will fade away as mankind progresses.” As the statistics will state, a rise in Neurological disorders are becoming an epidemic, religion will benefit due to this. I live in a city plagued with homelessness, drug addiction and all around mental disorders. Always, a person walking down the street, screaming obscenities will refer to a “god” in their rants. I too, dream of a world without religion but let’s be honest, As certain people are advancing human culture with brilliant ideas, even more are knocking us back with stupidity.

“If you fail to see the benefits of religion then you have truly missed to point. It’s here for a reason.” Um it’s mainly here because some fuck tards in our past made a story and told others “hey you can contribute to this false story as well, and well tell people it’s true.” So then you have folks praying to a golden calf, some monolithic figures, etc etc. Religion is a fucking joke, a scam, and oh yes how could I forget – takes in millions of dollars each and every year and yet pays no taxes. Want to know how we as Americans can balance our budget here? Tax these rich cunts and in no time BAM! Things are a lot better.

Thanks George Carlin. You were right. There is no god. Not now, not then. Never was.

.untill recently we knew nothing of the world around us. only 150 years ago darwin discovered the theory of evolution. only in the last 30 have we made immense progress in understanding DNA and evolution thanks to the invention of computers.

The reason religion is here is simple, because we didn’t know any better. We humans are very good at believing something that isn’t really true and has 0 evidence. I could use many examples beside religion. Aliens visiting earth, ghosts, magic, psychics, and many others. religion is no different. Humans are gullible and most of them totaly suck at logic.

          • Caradi42

oh yeah…what benefits am I failing to see. False hope? False motivation? False ways to greave over lost friends and family. False ways of getting what you need(like medical care or money), aka prayer. False ways of coping with real world problems. False ways of trying to fix those problems(all thanks to the way our government, free market, and monetary systems work).

I’m not seeing the benefits yet, help me out.

        • Mistert1963

The “Egyptian Religion” was not a religion but a race. Their deity was based on several different Gods and beliefs over several different years and none of them were the same. They changed as the new pharoah took over. Also, their religion was not around for 6,000 years. Check your history books.

        • Jeremie

Actually to answer yout point would take a but of theology, but what I can say is, you didn’t get my point, unfortunately. I’m trying to explain why, if there is a God, who came at first with a perfect plan, he is using for a while patience and long-suffering. Consider just one moment the possibility that the Adam and Eve story is true. If when our first parents choose to refute God authority, God had destroyed and recreated from the begining another couple of humans untill there is no rebelion, he would be the only one to know (considering that in the same time he had to destroy all potential witnesses, ie spiritual creatures), and maybe we would stilll leave under the regulation of a (not) perfect God, with no one to rebel from his laws.
But actually, God wants human to choose by themselves. This is what we call free will. The question is: “Is really God the only possible authority? Does he have the right to regulate our lifes?” Obviously only time permitted to answer thoses questions. And there is no incompatibility with love as the love from a loving father, as you stated. If god is perfect, he can undo ALL human mistakes… whenever he considers the answer has been finally given.
Bu be patient, the human is the student of my analogy.. for now he still thinks he can proove the theorem. But he cannot. I think it will be obvious very soon

        • ill pray fo you also

yea how about all the facts that prove the bible correct bro

          • Open your eyes

How about the millions of sources that disprove its content? Whether there is proof of, or against, the Bible, Quran, or Torah contents is a fruitless endeavor with religious people. They will always flee to their hopeful “faith” defense, or their respective religion adapts and changes with the times. It doesn’t matter whether you believe in a God or not. What does matter, however, is how you live your life. Don’t hate those who do not share your beliefs. Don’t force your beliefs on those who do not wish them. Moreover, and most importantly, teach your children to respect others for who they are and not for what they believe. If we all lived like this than the American vision would be true, and the world would then truly be at peace.

          • The Voice of Reason

Right you are. I wish more people had that way of thinking.

        • Wonker

Jeremie. you are a god damn fool. ur the type of person who needs someone to handle ur life becuz u cant handle it urself. U need structure and someone to guide u. U are not self sufficient, ur a fucking loser. Ur afraid of what might happen to u when u die. U might as well live ur life in a fucking monastery or a church trying to save other losers who want someone else to run their life. Go back to ur bible, u tool.

          • Jeremie

Wonker, I do expect a reward for my commitment to God, even if I don’t really live that kind of life only for that. If you feel better and more brilliant than believers, that’s good for you. If you survive a cancer or another serious illness and reach age of 75 or more and are happy with that, just enjoy the rest of your life. But seriously, your comment is just endlessly retarded.

          • HaL

“Wonker, I do expect a reward for my commitment to god” And then you state that his comment “is just endlessly retarded”??? Haha Jeremie you are a hopeless commodity in the eyes of your silly faith. Keep fighting the battle that will one day destroy most of this beautiful world, it’s all you have for your pathetic life.

        • Gideo

          For your education Jeremie.
You would be well at english my friend. The peace corp does good. The proper and correct way to write that sentence is ” My english is not that well either…”

        • Boo Radley

Religion may die in a 1000 years, who knows, but you seriously think this will result in a human race that is no longer greedy, desires power and resources? Organised religion is a joke but don’t be such a fool as to think the human race would suddenly live in peace and harmony in it’s absence. Humans created religion so therefore humans created war. Your argument almost sounds like your saying there is a God responsible for war by being behind religion and when God is taken away humanity will be free to live in a perfect world. Total mess of an argument. Jeeeeeeeeeeez.

        • He Who Thinks For Himself

heh, thousands of years later and humans are still so much like animals that they need lies to control crime and morals as well as explain what science could show. you know, we originally KNEW are many gods. then we believed many gods are a ridiculous idea, we KNEW there was one god. now we are FINALLY moving to the idea that one god is a ridiculous idea, there are no such thing as almighty, all knowing, super natural creatures. the more science destroys your “miracles” and “proof”, the more commonsense is taking control of the children of your brain-washed generation. how much you want to bet that if you told children about god when they are old enough to develop their OWN ideas, they would think god is as ridiculous as santa clause?

      • Voodoo

How about you try to hold back on the blanket allegations. Just like all liberals are pot smoking, tree, butt huggin homos….or all republicans are rich, snobby only want things that help the big companies.

    • Godless

No, I was not confusing the two. People suck…god sucks…and even if there is no god, the idea of him sucks. I wouldn’t want to raise “children” if I couldn’t do a better job with them than this supposed “God” has done with mankind. If god is all knowing and made man in his imaga and likeness, he is one big douche. There are good men but most religious men are worse than athiest! At least athiests have morals based on their own understanding of right and wrong and not some bullshit load of crap passed down by generations before…not that some athiests aren’t assholes too.

      • Ismless

Damn… couldn’t have said it better myself!

      • DarwinIsDead

You apparently knew you needed God at one time and now have taken a nasty 180 – but your words and story prove you clearly still need Him. Yes, people suck, that is the result of sin. Knowing the truth, and even being a pastor, does not make you a perfect, wonderful person. You apparently placed too much faith in mere men, and not enough if God.

God is perfect and holy and your attitude toward Him is not good, and surely you know that. I’m not sure what “cult” you were in, but any church that does not teach the Bible, God’s truth, without adding or taking away from it, is not of God. If you seriously read and study the Bible you will know that.

God is the perfect father. And if you are a father, you would know how flawed you are at that job. And you also would know that no matter how good a father you were or tried to be, your children still have free will and will do as they please. We can only do what we can and pray they make the right decisions.

You apparently did not study the Bible much during your “cult” years. A good Bible-teaching church would have allowed you to read and understand God did indeed make man in his image, but we are not gods or perfect like Him. An image is a reflection or imitation, not the same thing as the original. And when man rebelled – as he continues to do – and sin entered the world, we shattered that image of God, so it is now completely distorted, like the image in a cracked mirror.

Claiming an atheist has “morals” based on his “own understanding of right and wrong” is simply ridiculous. Such ethics – certainly not morality – is based on nothing, and permits rationalizing and justifying all kinds of harmful actions. To think we can each come up with our own understanding of right and wrong is illogical, since I might think it is right for me to take what you have if I don’t have any, and even hurt you if you resist. Of course, you would think that was wrong. So much for atheistic morality. Furthermore, you apparently believe there is a “right and wrong”. If so, from where do these concepts come? From God. If they come from man, then they are arbitrary and meaningless, or the same as having no right and wrong.

I am praying for you and hope you choose to seek God, this time in a healthy way, not with some distorted cult. But you will have to get over the hurt and expectation that people are going to be your salvation – they will not be. Only Jesus can and will be.

        • Godless

I don’t need your prayers. Religion sucks. I never thought I needed god. Actually I was learning “new religion” so I could leave behind the disunity of Christianity (the religion my parents and grandparents instilled in me). Well, the new one was just as bad or worse than Christianity…so I decided if your god or any god has dominion over mankind they don’t rule very well…so up theirs.

        • Fred Hill

creationism is ridiculous DARWIN IS DEAD lol yes he is after a natural biological life and having his slot in the ever altering genetic pool that we all come from there is solid proof of evolution but there is no more proof of there being a god and the christian church’s warped philosophy which when it has suited them involves mercenaries causing geonocide than there is of L Ron Hubbards SCIFI god theory PMSL

        • logic_seeker

A belief in God comes from mankind. Hence, according to your argument, it is arbitrary and meaningless.

        • Brandonhaviland

All religions are cults. Look up the definition.

        • Dunkhang

God is not dead. The church in all its forms is what should go away. I challenge you to practice what you preach and fore go all of your earthly possessions and preach to the open sky and not hide in an air-conditioned sanctuary. Lead by example and not give your gospel lip service.

        • Fsticks3

While Atheists do something good, they do not expect anything in return, they do it because they know its the right thing to do. On the other hand, when a cultist does something good its only because they seek the reward of getting in to heaven or they fear the punishment of going to hell. While religion was used in the past to control the moral compass of mankind as a whole. Now as Science spreads its wings religion will transform, it will not disappear but will instead change into something new.

        • The Voice of Reason

The bible is not a truth. The bible is a book of accumulated stories and moral values based on a eternal damnation. Even Hitler doesn’t deserve eternal damnation. I do believe he deserves what pain he dealt.
Morals are best learned through experience. Not because if you don’t learn them you go to hell. These stories and words of “god” you speak of is nothing more than ideas created by man for man. Not to say i don’t believe in a higher power. I just don’t believe that the higher power described in the bible or any religion for that matter including atheism are true. Nobody really knows for sure and if you believe you do then your as ignorant as it gets.
I love the bible for its literature and morals but not for its ideas of spirituality. Religion has been holding back humanities true potential and i don’t believe we’ll be able to take the next step forward until we see beyond religions fairy tales.

        • HaL

Hahahaha Your fifth paragraph shows how brain dead you really are. Although your whole post is filthy stupid, that particular part about “claiming an atheist has morals based on his own understanding of right and wrong is simply ridiculous” shows that you are so deep in the stupidity of whatever you have been brainwashed with that you, yourself are irrational in your thinking. Atheism is not a belief, it’s reality. I pride on being atheist for the fact that I allow myself to explore and find truth within myself and the universe that surrounds my life. You have to refer to a stupid book to make your decisions and that makes you weak. You are weak. Mind, body and soul. You need help just as anyone that believes in the fallacy that is a delusional mindset, or “god” if you will. There is so much more to the mystery of life, death, afterlife than biblical bullshit but you and your kind will just always be stuck.

      • Martin_200808

thats such a terrible view of the world, i feel sory for you. religion is about hope and you have lost all hope. yes the world is a crazy un-fair world but thats life god gives free will people are responsible for their own actions not god. its funny that you blame a god you dont beileive in for all the worlds ills.

      • Martin_200808

yeah you should evaluate your standard of ethics, utilitarianism is flawed ethically bankrupt, question where your morality comes from.

  • Johnnoonan

If you wish to believe there is no God, then may your life be happy and fufilled; but how you justify our moral obligation to society, I can’t tell. If you believe in God, then may your life be happy and fulfilled; but can you listen to the most inportant message He ever gave, and allow others to live as you would wish them to live yourself, with freedom, personal consecience, and the need to only answer to your Creator upon your departure from this World unto the next; where all pretence is shorn, and the true meaning of your actions are disclosed. The truth (with a God or not) will out. Nothing we do to coerce others in this World will change our afterlife, it is only the good we do that matters. I defy any Atheist, Catholic, Christian, Jew, Buddist, Hindu, Muslim, or any other belief/non belief person to contradict this.

    • Schquick

How your morality turns out is based on how you’re raised. If you believe in God, you think morals are absolute.

If your first sentence has nothing to do with the rest of your post, your logic is fine. If not, you seem to be assuming that the existence of a Creator and an Afterlife are a given, even to atheists – an obvious contradiction.

  • Goji

You didn’t meet god. You went insane. Try to come to grips with that and you may yet live a few years of normal life before you commit suicide.

  • Johnnoonan

Although I agree with the comment that most people read the Bible/Koran/any other religious text and say I agree, without having read the fine print. I’ve met the most beautiful souls who were Atheist, and the most horrendous, who were God-Fearing.

    • Goatler

I’m an atheist because I know better than to trust man. I don’t give a shit if anyone decides to join a religion, after all, it would be nice to think there is something more to us then just this life. But I chose to use my brain. I respect some people, but I will never respect somebodies religion.

  • Hd89883

Hi again, I’m glad u asked!!! I grew up in a religion kinda like mennonite or amish where one couldn’t watch tv, girls couldn’t wear skirts or dresses above the knee, no make-up, guys had to have a chaperone on a date(cause everyone knows the 1st time one dates the girl will get prego) etc etc etc……because these things were all considered sins!,,,not only that but the preacher of my church was my father and believe me when I tell you, things were very different on a Sunday(in church) then they were every other day of the week! I learned very early God didn’t give a crap about me!!!!! I went years… knowing and thinking that IF there was a GOD…then I didn’t want to know or even hear of him. I knew I was (fairly) intelligent, successful in my career..but I also knew something was missing, couldn’t (put my finger on it) but I wasn’t happy! Then one day someone asked me if I was sure I was going to heaven? I replied, I don’t believe in heaven! (or hell)…(This makes me think of Theresnoeffingway’s comment! I used to put God in a box and think of him as an equal on MY level lol.) I was then told of how God loved me so much that He sent His ONLY Son (Jesus) to die on a cross to take away all my sins(and believe me there were many) if I would believe and ask HIM to do that! The instant I did that… it was like a burden fell of my shoulders, thats the best way I can explain it!! I started reading the Bible, (I don’t like people telling me what to do and wanted to see what this HOLY BIBLE was all about!) I had no idea the Bible was like a mystery…(that one has to have faith and believe it to understand it!) I had followed along reading in church but it never meant a thing until I asked God to change me. My prayer for u guys will be that you have a similar experience that Saul/Paul did(thats in the New Testament!) I hope you check it out someday! Later!

    • Goatler

Yeah, some guy told me about some book written a long time ago. Apparently that bright light in the sky is a god!!!!! Can you believe it?!?! Man, instantly that burden is gone! I finally decided to give up logic, and eat this faith shit up! Woohoo!!!!

  • reason able

you know how they say god is infinite… dont go with the childish view of a person of guy in the clouds but as infinity itself and you wont have such a problem with the idea of god… when people say god just think, oh you mean infinity.

    • Schquick

Don’t go with the childish view of a horse with a horn but as a narwhal on land and you won’t have such a problem with the idea of unicorns. When people say “unicorn” just think, “Oh, you mean beached narwhals.”

  • Djburke87

Christianity lead you to a cult? Wow, how sad. Maybe if you paid attention to anything in the Bible about false profits etc. you would have known better.

    • ms. godless

I’m pretty sure he was referring to Christianity as a cult.

      • Fake

        lolersaurus rex

      • phantomreader42

Christianity isn’t a cult. Christianity is tens of thousands of mutually exclusive competing cults, each of which claims to have the one true path to heaven while declaring all the others false. And each of which is constantly begging for money.

        • http://www.septemberclues.info/ MushroomCult

I think we should just give up all logical thought, and just accept Jesus in our lives! I also think the government loves us, and we shouldn’t fret, they care about us! Also… the world is flat! ;)

        • DarwinIsDead

What an ignoramus rex. True Chrsitianity is a knowledge and belief that Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and the word of God is revealed through the Bible, without adding or subtracting to it. You determine a true Christian church by asking “Does it teach Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and teach the Bible, without change?” Anything different is a fraud. Quite simple, actually.

God does not command that anyone give money to the church, but desires that you would willingly want to give, since all that you have comes from God. With your attitude and hard heart, giving would be meaningless to God since He certainly does not need your money. Your attitude toward the importance of money, and a fear that someone is trying to take it from you, reveal your true God: your self and your money.

    • T. Roll

I’m pretty sure, personally, that at no point does the Bible refer to False Profits.
Check your spelling you asshat, you look even dumber than the cultist.

      Cult as defined by dictionary.com:
a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

To venerate: To honor (as an icon or relic) with a ritual act of devotion.

christianity is not about a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same things, person, ideal, etc…..its abuot christ….and christ is not a thing..person or whatever…he is god!

        • Adam Pratt

There are so many things that I could say to make you realize you don’t even know what christianity is about, there is a reason that this image presented is so hilarious, it’s because people like you exist in the world. Wow for a man that loves “christ” you’d think you would at least capitalized it like you do with your signature on those–you know cheques you make out to “the church of god”. BECOME AWAKE ALREADY!!!

        • Gotya

          so…
you’re denying that Christ was a person?

HOLD ON A MINUTE THERE UNBELIEVERS. Jesus Christ is a living breathing, all-seeing, all-knowing, loving father of a character in a book of fiction. I refuse to deny the obvious.

…and that is a desperate rationalization to avoid admitting that you’re part of a cult.

        • Noobplus

Yep – Christianity is not a cult, it is a collection of cults that all choose to follow Christ to their own interpretation of his teachings…no matter how long after his death they were written and then subsequently translated over and over again.

All religious fanatics/fundamentalists are dangerous whack jobs whether they be Christian, Muslim or Jedi…

You people seriously need to get over yourselves…

If people involve themselves in christianity (or any other religion for that matter) it is their own decition, why bother yourselves trying to prove them wrong? (unless, you get off on that for some odd reason)… Just leave them alone, and you will be left alone, no need to bash blindly at others…

    Live and let live.

If God proved he existed then there would be no point in faith. We can’t see the air but we know its there. Those who are deaf cant hear music but know its played. There are a lot of things that we cant see or touch or feel but we know they are real. God is something you can feel when you are having a really good day or someone to lean on when things arent going right. I am not one of those crazy Christian people who go out and pass out flyers or tell people they should believe in God. I think those are the kind of people who turn people off from God. I just felt compelled to write something because some of you are being a little over the top rude to people that have faith. I constantly stand up for people who dont believe in God. There are too many Christians who ridicule and judge those who dont have faith, saying they are bad people and they make bad decisions and that to me is just insane. Religion doesnt make you a good or bad person. In fact, most of my close friends do not have God in their lives and are some of the most amazing people I know, so dont go around and start acting like your stereotype.

    • gobbles

you don’t have to stand up for anyone who doesn’t believe in God. We have logic on our side. We say the same things about you ‘believers’ behind your backs too!!! Especially those hypocrite Christians that like to judge people. “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

Sin is separation from God. We made that choice. We’re still making it. You’re still making it now, then you complain that life isn’t perfect. I was an atheist most of my life, saying the same ignorant things that you yourself say, stepping beyond even to say such things as, ‘Even if there is a God, I hate him.’ If there is a truth, then you can’t pick and choose what is true. It’s not up to you. The world does not revolve around you. Stop and consider that maybe there is something with a greater authority then yourself, and a greater intellect as well.

There are a lot of people who have really screwed up following Christ and have made it a religion with rules and a fake charity rather than an actual relationship with God. No follower of Christ (it’s even hard to say Christian these days because of the negative reaction to it, because it is so misunderstood) would ever claim to be anything close to a perfect person. We are the most screwed up, and we can admit it. Christ said, ‘I have not come from the healed, but for the sick.’

And Christianity has tons of factual history behind it, and if you really believe that the whole world exists and is able to create life because of an explosion of a bunch of things that had no life on them, that is much more far-fetched than believing that maybe, just maybe, there is someone more powerful than this foolish humanity we have here, and that maybe someone actually designed this place for a purpose. Otherwise, honestly, I would have committed suicide years ago, because life would be void of a point. Heaven is unity with God, not some afterlife solution. Sin is separation from God. Anything you do that separates you from God is a sin – not because you’re a bad person, just because you are rejecting God. And God doesn’t SEND people to hell, either – you make the choice. By denying God, he isn’t going to force his love on you. That wouldn’t be real love. That’s why we were given a choice in the first place to love him back, and we decided we wanted to see if there was something better… now look where we are. Clearly we have no idea how to love anymore, because we’re separated from Love himself. (1 John says “God is love.”) We make the choice to deny God for right now and also forever, but you can’t blame God for not forcing you to love him. That’s not love.

I apologize for all of the Christians that have given you a different impression of who God really is. He’s loving, forgiving, just, and true. I came out of ten years of my life being angry at God, spending so much energy fighting against Him. Calm down. If Christians are really just crazy, let them be crazy by themselves, let them believe they have a life-changing love from a God above. Stop fighting against it. Truth stands as it is, so nothing that anyone can do will change it. We’ll all find out when we die, so seriously, just calm down and stop hurting each other.

    • george

your comment about the big bang doesn’t really compute. you say that it couldn’t have happened from nothing, but no one said there was nothing, it was very compressed matter. sort of like co2 in a in a fire extinguisher, its all in there until someone pulls the trigger and wow how it expands.
and that goes along the god route also, he was always there? i can’t compute that. and if he was then why couldn’t he have created the bang himself, but who created him?
this is a lose lose situation, you cannot prove there is a god that always existed and we cannot prove how the universe came to be. both had to start somewhere. the argument of simply always existing does not work.

  • And again.

and stop telling people that they haven’t met God.
you have no right, just because you have not experienced such a thing and cannot fathom it because you spend so much energy making sure you don’t meet Him too.

learn to love one another. seriously, it’s sick how much hatred you have within yourselves…

  • Lucas

First off, it is generally not kind to dis other religions, even if you think they are false. As long as they are not directly interfering with the lives of other people who do not agree with them, let them believe whatever they want. It just makes you look like an idiot if you try to argue with them OVER THE INTERNET.
Second off, while I am glad to see you am content with your life through Christianity/Buddhism/Whatever, please do not start ranting your beliefs ANYWHERE but outside your own house or place of worship(And no, the planet IS NOT your place of worship), it will just make other people mad, and when you take it too far you sound like a jack*ss, ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERNET.
And Thirdly, all your whining and arguing will do nothing for any of you when the Great Cthulhu rises again from the watery depths of his great city R’lyeh and comes to destroy all of mankind in all of his significance. Ia ia Cthulhu Ftaghn!

  • D Mac Supreme

    lol that’s pretty funny.

now in regards to most of the comments on here.
people shouldn’t bash the god fearing man. obviously people cant count on eachother for peace and hope, so if believing in god helps get ya through the day then more power to ya.

and on a side note, just because nobody can kick your ass over the internet doesn’t mean you need to be a dick, dicks.

Dont listen to those nonbelievers just cuz life isnt handed to them free of all consequence and they actually have to make desicions they are against it those who believe will live the good life and thoswe who like to make fun of those who believe in God well i hope they get what they deserve to bad God has so much mercy he will probably spare them pain regardless

  • Keanin

let’s say religion isn’t real, it makes those who do believe in it better people by avoiding sin and it gives believers a sense of confidence and hope. So why bash it? Are you upset you have nothing to fall back on? No hope of afterlife? No assurance everything will turn out fine in the end? What the church does, is it makes people more generous, thoughtful and giving. Without having some sort of faith in everlasting life after that of which on Earth, it kind of makes living un-needed. If you don’t believe, why not just take your life now? Some say there is no god, some say there is. But this is what I see. When people believe in Him, they’re better as a people. When they don’t, they seem to be darker, more pessimistic. There is no “proof” of God, but there sure as hell isn’t any proof that he doesn’t exist either. Should you choose to convert, you’ll see your own proof, though. Perhaps none of which that you can present in a court, but you’ll see it.

@gobbles – right on point! I love the fact we have freedom to believe whatever we want to believe but don’t press your monotheism on me thanks! Especially if ‘you’ reiterate the same verses from the bible. THAT PROVES NOTHING because you’re using the bible as your source!!

    • Oldstate

Amen that’s why i resent Jehovah’s witness, come to my door and try to push your religion on me, or the Catholics where they say do not judge another that is god,s job then send you letters saying how you will burn in hell for your sins because you are not catholic, really …. is that how god would want us to think? I believe in tolerance and live and let live, it isn’t my business unless someone else makes it my business.

      • Me

I’m making it your business right now. So now what will you do?

    • gobbles

I totally agree with you. Using bible verses proves nothing. But the Bible is the only thing that the Christians have to fight with for their arguments about the existence of God (their god). They sure as don’t have science and logic on their side. So why am I not allowed to use the same source as every single christian just because I am against it.

The Bible is a message from outside time and space. It is a message from our creator to the creation. It predicts the future with 100% accuracy. Salvation of man is it’s central theme. And Jesus is given as the answer. You decide. Read it for yourself.

If I were to believe in a god it would only make sense if he or she were completely passive. God would provide the creative force that allows everything to happen and eventually to end. God would never interfere and therefore never send any offspring to earth either. So much for Jesus. At most a god would observe but neither act not judge. When we die we would be judged by our own conscience. The afterlife would be spent in blissful innocence or tormenting guilt. And god would simply continue to provide the energy that keeps the whole thing going.

    Just a thought:

I think most people can agree that love is a real thing. The source of that love is the challenge. What is it that drives a human to create, to ponder, to self examine? How can we stand at a mountain top, or by the sea and experience an emotional response? I don’t believe that, that swelling of joy within, is a survival tool… its something much deeper.

  • Anon

How about we all believe what we want and don’t fault other people for having their own ideas? Christianity can be great when people aren’t forcing it down each others’ throats and saying ridiculous, ignorant things that I’ve read above. No wonder people think we’re a cult. And honestly, the church is becoming less of a discipline that teaches how to help and love others and moreso like an over-glorified pot-luck everyday. This is precisely the reason why I don’t go to church as often as I should.

As long as you have good reasoning for why you believe in something (and you did your homework), nobody should be chastising anyone. It’s easy to be cynical, hateful, and hurl insults when opinions differ (and I aim this remark to both sides of the debate). It takes a bigger person of any faith / non-faith to resist the immature temptation to judge, and jump on the chance to talk down to somebody as if they were a window-licker.

I’m a Christian with friends of all different faiths, even atheists, and I embrace their belief systems because it helps me learn more about my own. I wish the rest of the world would do the same.

  • nonbeliever

Great quote. Reformed christians like to believe in the pretty parts of the bible and completely disregard the stuff that makes them look bad. I could really care less if someone is religious or not, but if you are going to consider a book to be “holy”, then id say its pretty pretentious to pick and choose the parts you feel comfortable believing in.

  • Goatler

Religion is for weak people. Can’t deal with this simple, short life on their own. Can’t accept the fact that when you die, that is it. It’s sad that these control methods are still effective today. “Work like slaves people! I know it sucks now, but hey, when you die it will be a fucking party!” Drop your false faith, and piss on your former religion. Live the only life you have.

  • realist

HOLD ON A MINUTE KANYE, I mean believer. what makes you believe in jesus? might it be because you were unlucky enough to be born into that religion via parents friends or some other circumstance?. what makes you think you have the correct religion what vernerates christianity above the other monotheistic religions… nothing?

christianity is a cult, a dangerous one at that. all religions are essentially cults. with the indoctrination of children at their core it is absurd.

  • Love

ahhh… You’re all silly, arguing over semantics and bad grammar. I’m a religion major, and a buddhist. Both have led me to the conclusion that the bible is a wonderful source of personal faith and those who both preach blindly and reject vehemently are both wrong. You’ve missed the point completely. Humans are Literary creatures. Our strengths lie in our mind and with that, language. Chill out, read the story everyone has been fighting over for over 1,000 years and get the message, which is normally universal and has nothing to do with Jesus or God but with the behavior of man. read Job, realize how insignificant you are, and be happy about it. Fuck it, if god is a man watching over us you can;’t be too mad. I mean i’m sure as an all-knowing, all-powerful being he had the choice to create a world made of poop and people made of bean paste, and let’s all be thankful that’s not the case.

That person who said the found god may have, you don’t know. And how dare you take her happiness. That’s like telling a 5 year old there’s no santa for some self righteous reason.

    • george

i don’t condemn those who believe in a religion, i condemn those who force it down others throats.
there is a good and true anecdote about an exploring expedition to the arctic around 1900 or so that had a documentary journalist and a christian mercenary.
upon trying to spread his religion to a GODLESS native Inuit, he explained about sin and how the native must embrace the lord so as to go to heaven or he would go to hell for his sins, the Inuit politely asked that if he did not know of sin and god would he have still gone to hell?
the priest answered, no my son, if you where ignorant of god and sin you would not be punished with hell.
the native asked him, then why are you telling me this?

  • Blah

Cult is a word with a negative connotation, but it given a rather neutral definition (denotation). Calling Christianity a cult with that definition is attempting to piss off Christians by using a definition that could also be applied to any other religion, Oprah’s book club, the members of a society dedicated to the academic study of James Joyce, and so on. It isn’t the definition of cult provided that is insulting. What is insulting is the negative connotation that automatically arises when using the word cult (that is the idea that cults are groups of people that are brainwashed or manipulated into committing themselves to harmful thoughts or behaviors).

The above joke mostly makes fun of the disparity between the unshakable conviction that most Christians have and their actual knowledge of the supposed source of those convictions.

The Bible itself produces no evil. peoples’ incorrect interpretations of the Bible create evil, e.g., the Inquisition, Crusades, Salem Witch Trials, Catholicism :) . However when one follows the Bible through until the end and dedicates their life to serving Jesus and follows the simple commands it sets forth (love being the most heavily mentioned) no harm can come from it. I do agree with this quote that not enough Christians read the Bible (I am a Christian myself) but this is not exclusive to the Christian faith. Most Muslims have absolutely no idea what is in the Qur’an and it is my opinion that the “extremists” we see should be more properly referred to as “extreme Qur’an readers” because the only peaceful Muslims are ones who have not listened to the Qur’an or followed in the example of Muhammed — who raided caravans and killed innocent women and children. There is violence in the Bible, however the cultures God directs the men in the Bible to eliminate are cultures that the most despicable person would not defend. *I tried to make it as grammatically accurate as I possibly could for those who would reject a good argument because of improper spelling*

Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.

I think this is really funny. I also know it to be true. I’m not saying all christians haven’t read it, but I know alot who haven’t and yet they “agree” to everything in it. I read it twice and almost lost faith because of it. Now I have faith in God, not the bible. I believe in morality, which is doing right regardless of what I am told… not in religion, which is doing what I’m told regardless of what is right.

The Bible says nothing about, “false profits.” It does, however, mention, “false prophets”. And I would just like to point out that Christianity is not, by definition, a cult. It is in fact, the absolute furthest thing from a cult in its entirety. Though one could say it is a bunch of collective cults and I wouldn’t entirely disagree with that.

Hm. I’m not sure if the question of whether God exists as a discrete entity is really what’s important when considering spiritual matters. First, God exists, that’s a fact. Whether it’s a living being or a fairy tale, it exists, if for no other reason than because we made it. Second, religion is an evolving concept, just like science. Just because science has gotten almost everything wrong in the past doesn’t mean we throw out science; we reshape and refine it. Religion is also evolving, although much more slowly, and maybe not always adaptively for the people it’s intended to benefit. Maybe we’ll get it right some day. Finally, as of yet, there is no way to prove the existence or lack of a spiritual realm, and it’s impossible to disprove it once and for all. Just as science could, at one time very recently, not properly explain, nor could it even fathom, quantum entanglement, it may well be that we are as yet without the technology or religion properly constructed so as to allow us to undeniably perceive it.

  • nicole

Whether there is a God or not, if you aren’t happy it’s your fault if that’s how you choose to see the world.

  • Obsidian Overlord

Should I point out that the only absolute in this world is death. Stereotypes of any kind are flawed. Not all christians are fucktards. Not all athiests are douche bags. And no one knows what happens after the only absolute in this world. (death) No one can tell us what happens because the only people who know are, wouldn’t you know it, dead.

Athiesm at its worst. (This of course, isn’t true for every athiest, but perhaps for some.) You athiests talk about facts when in reality, you know very little. You ask religious people, “How do you know which religion is the correct one?” or, “Wheres the proof of God, Jesus, Heaven etc…” but how do you know athiesm is correct? Where’s your proof that there isn’t a God, Jesus, Heaven etc… You have exactly the same ammount of proof, evidence, and facts to back up your opinions as any religion does, and that is zero.

Religion at its worst. (This, of course, isn’t true for every believer, but perhaps for some.) You Christians, or religious people in general. You think you’re so much holier than everyone else. Your good intentions have spread evil throughout the world. Countless innocent people have died due to your good words. Your road of good intentions is paved with the blood of men, women, and children whose only crime was their lack of faith in your beliefs.

It is useless to argue because, like VanPow basically says, it’s impossible to prove any of this one way or another. This is why, despite the pointlessness of it all, people will continue to argue, if only for the sake of arguing.

Oh, and one more thing. If there is a God, (Chirstian) then I do not BELIEVE, as Kmy406 so eloquently stated, that athiests are fucked. If there is a God, I’d like to BELIEVE that he is a loving God, and it is his fan club, AKA Kmy406, that gives him a bad rep. I’d like to BELIEVE that he loves everyone, athiests, christians, and members of other religions, and sadly Kmy406 as well.

What I find disturbing is that most people go out of their way to attack Christianity, but no effort is made to tear into Scientology or Buddhism or Wicca or Thelema or Judaism or any of these religions. EVEN Satanism gets a skip..! It seems as though you are only serving to prove what the bible says about naysayers and those who reject the Word. On top of this, it singles out Christianity as the true belief, which is The Leviathan’s enemy. He uses subterfuge and confusion, false security and fear to control you while making you feel free. You who reject Al Shaddai must know we are all in a huge spiritual war against Lucifer – don’t play for the wrong side..! Arm yourself with knowledge and wisdom!

At the same time – wouldn’t you rather be safe than sorry? Even if there is a *slight* chance you are wrong, and that you’re booked for a trip to flame lake for a long vacation, wouldn’t you try to get our of it? I was booked in, and I’m not always straight edge, but I’m sure as heck going to try to get out of it.

Unfortunately, there are many brothers and sisters of God that are not ‘model’ believers (please, no nit-picking if you understand my descriptions), and its a pity that they are focused on, when there are many that are doing God’s work, in comparison, are ignored. Its true, there are hypocritical ‘christians’ out there, but to typify and stereotype is also not correct, for someone who doesn’t believe, to hate and judge someone based on their belief goes against basic human respect. One of my closest friends is an Atheist, yet we are able to respect one another and have open discussions on end about our beliefs without immediately berating each other… which is what is happening here… Leviathan’s first plan is to create religion, then to divide, then to conquer.

There wouldn’t be so much angry in these comments if you had God in your life. He gave us free will and that is why there is sin and hatred. Satan does like to lead us away from God and sounds to me like he is doing one heck of a good job with that. Good luck guy or gals, sounds like you may need it.

  • Mistert1963

Try not to blame God for a meesed up group of people who twist the word of God around their own sick agenda. God still wants the best for you but he doesn’t promise the best in this life. This life is a test to get to the best he has for you. Jeremiah 29:11 is a great way to understand the plan that God has for you.

  • Mistert1963

To all the atheist in this group. What is your point. If what you believe is true, why are you wasting your very valuable time argueing this. After all, all the time you have, if there is no God, is right now. Once your dead, according to you, there is nothing else. Myself- I would rather put my faith in something great after then to watch the clock tick away what little time I have left. What does God teach? Love Him with everything you have and Love your neighbor as yourself. WOW- Scary, cultish stuff there hun. Gee, if we all did this what a fantastic world this would be instead of a bunch of negative, soured hatefull atheist who have nothing to live for and nothing to die for. Get a life in Jesus.

Studies have shown that Atheists tend to be more intelligent. Coincidence? I think not. There is no god, you fucking retards. The bible is just some story book written thousands of years ago. You don’t believe everything you read, do you? Wait, you probably do. You probably believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny too. Idiots.

    • DarwinIsDead

Studies have and currently do show you are a low-grade atheist moron, but an “intelligent” one. Coincidence? I think not.

There is a God. To believe otherwise would mean I would have to believe in evolution, a theory that posits life continues to evolve into something better and brighter. Sadly, you are Exhibit “A” in the case against evolutionary theory. Unless, of course, you are a retrograde mutant, which might make sense.

But no, that would mean I would have to believe man evolved from nothing, in a universe that was always in existence or was created from nothing. Apparently, some amino acids were hit by lightning and life spontaneously appeared, in a pond. Then, after hundreds of millions, if not billions, of years, man evolved. No one can explain how this could have happened, or even prove that it happened, but as an evolutionist I would believe it because lots of people more intelligent than Bible-believing people say so, and I would blindly place my absolute trust in whatever these really smart people have to say. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Any thinking person cannot view the world around him – - particularly our DNA – - and conclude there was not a Creator. I’l go with God over you. It just seems to be the intelligent thing to do.

  • ReligionIsForRetards

LMAO! Woooooow people are stupid. Prayer doesn’t work, and if it did? I’d PRAY for you to die and rot in the dirt and finally realize there is no god or heaven.

  • Chabet44

God is one of the best parent, he disciplines, it’s up to the children to be obedient and follow his teaching, you are ignorant to his teaching and suffering that he has gone through for us, it’s the same way your parents suffer when you go astray after they have brought you up.

  • DarwinIsDead

Wow. Reading all this hateful ignorance is like watching people gleefully swimming in a sewer: Sad and disgusting.

It is true, the “Bible is like a software license” quote is indeed humorous and probably true for far too many people. However, the fact that many people agree with the Bible without knowing what is in it does not mean it is not true. And, in fact, the Bible is God’s truth, like it or not.

None of the opinions posted here has any merit unless each person who has posted a comment has actually read and studied the Bible to understand what it actually says and means. A simple primer:

First, the Bible is the truth, revealed by God to man. It is without contradiction and its truth is proven again each day. A serious and honest study of the Bible reveals it is historically accurate (stop unquestioningly believing PBS and Discovery Channel “documentaries” about the Bible and Jesus that are riddled with inaccuracies, distortions and falsehoods).

Second, religion, unlike God’s word, is manmade and thus inherently flawed, which is why you have so many distortions of the Bible, and false religions that do not follow the Bible and/or add or take away from it. All religions are not the same, we do not all worship the same god and there are not many paths to god. There is one God, as revealed through the Bible, and all other gods are false and not true. The only way to know what is true and what is not true is to read and study the Bible. If you haven’t read and studied the Bible, man up and admit you don’t know what you are talking about, and shut up until you do.

Third, people are sinners and do terrible things. Just because you can point to many other people who are “worse” than you does not absolve you of your wrongdoing or sin – which means to “miss the mark”. But because God is perfect and holy, we all “miss the mark” and are unworthy to be in His presence. That is why he sent his son, Jesus the Christ, to accept the punishment we all deserve for our wrongdoing, so we could choose to be with God through eternity.

Fourth, just because you don’t like the way God created and set things up does not mean it is wrong, bad or false. God created us and made the rules – just like a lot of things that we will never truly understand, like the origins of life, gravity, electricity, the internet, etc., etc. Knowing how something works does not mean you know why they work the way they do. You should be extremely thankful God doesn’t run things the way you would – just look at your own life and see how wonderfully your own plans have worked out for you and those around you. Not too pretty, is it? God gives us the free will to ignore and reject him because he is not going to force us to obey and honor Him. Those who seek Him and study his Word (the Bible), are not perfect and will never be (at least not in this life), and many of them are not very nice people who do awful things. Conversely, those who reject God can be pretty nice and do a lot of great things, but they still are imperfect and fall short of the glory of God.

Fifth, rejecting God is permitted, but there will be consequences. Those who are honest with themselves understand there really are no “victimless” crimes, or sins. Our actions always affect others in one way or another. Two good ways to know you are doing something that is wrong is when you come up with a rationalization as to why your actions are OK or become quite angry when someone points out your behavior is wrong. We cannot understand what eternity separated from God will be like, so that concept does not register much with most people. But imagine if you were supposed to pick up your child or other loved one, such as a spouse, sibling or parent, but chose instead to finish a computer game, watching a movie or reading a book, making your loved one wait another 15 minutes. When you arrived to pick up, you saw a car driving away and found your loved one nowhere to be found. Later, you learned the car you saw driving away had your loved one inside, and your loved one were abused endlessly and murdered horrifically. Living the rest of your life with the knowledge that if had you simply left when you were supposed to have then your loved one would be safe and with you, would be more painful than most of us can imagine. Well, throughout eternity – a pretty long time – with the knowledge that you chose to reject and forever be separated from God, will be far more painful that the knowing you were responsible for the pain and death of a loved one.

Sixth, wise up and get the truth. All your flippant and angry attacks against God and the Bible will only bring you pain and sorrow. And worse, you are causing others to reject God.

Seventh, get on your knees and pray that God forgives you of your wrongdoing and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then, and only then, will you be forgiven and know you will forever be with God. That does not mean either you or your life will be perfect. In fact, it might become more difficult at you now must struggle with your sin, rather than give in to it each day. Your life will be fuller and richer, and far more joyful, however. Then pray for your friends and family, that they, too, would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Many claim believers in Jesus are mindless sheep who lack logic or common sense. But nothing could be further from the truth. Read the gospels of Paul, a brilliant man, a Jewish leader and scholar, who once persecuted believers in Jesus. And read C.S. Lewis works on Christianity. These are two men whose intellect no doubt dwarfs the combined intellect (if we can even call it that) of every person who has commented on this website.

  • tigerGUY

Well hell, whatever happened to man’s own will? You have to be young because you pass off responsibility of self(selves) to another (God). This fvcking country and world is this way because of us. Period!

  • Voodoo

Well, if everything sucks, why are you still around? Besides, God didn’t invent or give “religion”. He has tried ridding us of it but we keep dredging it up to put a fence around him and box him up nice and neat like. If God did what you want Godless then you would hate him even more, I would guarantee it. How do you like your life being led by someone every step of the way? We all are rebels at heart and HATE being told what to do. That is until we do find out that fire does burn and running into a wall at high speed does hurt. It’s up to you to figure that out, it has been pointed out just read the book.

  • http://www.genislam.co.cc Muhammad Najem

If God doesn’t really exist why are you talking about Him ? I guess that’s just one simple proof that He exists but you might not have found the straight way to get to know Him .

  • Christislove

The sad thing is, there are a lot of Christians who don’t know everything that is contained within the Bible, however, it is usually a denomination of Christianity that people accept blindly. It is the denomination that takes a certain view or position on the Bible that people accept without investigation. As for the existence of God, many people like to claim that there is no God, but no one has yet to put a logical proof together to disprove that God does indeed exist.

  • Believer

To those disbelieving in the existence of God: explain love.

  • Urbankid100

I couldn’t give a crap about it then and I don’t give a crap about it now. What people call God is inside of all of us. There is no external force out there that is all knowing or that can control events.

  • http://www.miamiwebdesignpro.com miami web design

heh. pretty funny if you ask me. Lighten up people. :D

  • Bones

Organized religion is very clever form of brain washing.

  • Jesus

Religion is nothing more than a story that Ancients came up with to describe events that they did not understand through science. If you truly believe there is an invisible man in the sky who watches everything you do with a set of rules and punishes those who break them, then history has taught you nothing. One must ask themselves why churches do not pay taxes and receive government subsidies. To believe in religion one must psychologically separate themselves from nature and put all their beliefs into “Faith.” Im sure many people in Germany had “FAITH” in Hitler’s cause, but it doesn’t make it right. People need to start listening to environmental feedback for what is right and wrong. Ultimately, Religion = Slavery (helps people put faith in Government who controls your environment).

  • ill pray for you

woo unto you brother, God is real you follow him and not a cult, it is about a relationship. there is so much out there for you guys to learn

  • Alex

Bashing religion is hip and popular. Type lots of things about how religion only spawns hate and violence. If you don’t think your post sounds smart enough, it probably isn’t. You can try using a thesaurus and find really fancy words! When people have to use a dictionary to find your obscure words, they will be impressed and immediately agree with you.

If your Michael Moore logic still fails to impress, simply start listing off Old Testament bible versus completely out of context! Those who don’t know how to read will be impressed that you took the time to read the bible (or excerpts on the internet, whatever), and those who can see through your bullshit generally won’t care enough to call you out!

Now you can be a successful Internet Atheist and have millions of friends.

  • Cam Shull

I still have yet to find evidence anywhere that God does not exist. Anyone with any scientific background knows that it is impossible to prove that something does not exist. You can only prove that you dont have evidence that it exists…sorry.

  • ub3r1337xD

Seriously, why don’t you people just shut up and get a life instead of arguing about religion. Nobody really KNOWS if there is a God or not until they are dead and either nothing happens or they go to heaven or hell. And for all those who don’t have a religion, what’s the point in getting all pissed off at other people on a website that was meant to be humorous when your life is basically just a speck in time and nothing you say on here is going to matter in the long run? Just accept that everyone on earth has different beliefs, and you should respect what others think if you expect anyone else to do the same for you. There is no proof for anything you people are arguing about. Only faith, or lack thereof. Stop wasting your time and believe what you want to believe!

    hahaha, which religion? just curious.

I’m not even religious, but can’t we just accept what other people believe and believe what makes sense to us?
Christans have no proof there is a god or an afterlife, and DOGMAII you have no proof there isn’t one.
No one has to be wrong when no one knows the truth.

  • GOD!

it’s not about religion…it’s about relationship.

  • guest

and sadly, most Christians don’t read the bible, and the ones that do don’t take the time to delve into the historical remnants of these so called “mythologies”. I’m sure if a person was to take the time to do the research instead of making asinine declarations without a hint of a theological background then they would see that if nothing else, there is at least some truth to what many of us consider to be the word of god.

  • Tom777gormley

I am sorry for you. I tell you something. You want to analyis GOD?!!. Man you are a “Mere mortal” like myself you are badly In need of an Ego fix . The greatest brains In the world I refer to The likes of Richard Hawkins, hasn,t a clue where he,s going. As far as he is concerned the world all stared Including evey Universe that so far we can see as sort of “Bits of StrinG”?. Man come on. I am sorry you had such a “Very Bad Experience Has It ever occured to you that maybyr others have had the same? Your answers suck man get a life before Its to late.

  • littlebug

lol. i like that those who don’t believe keep going on and on about how God doesn’t exist. Your just talking to talk. Shut Up, and actually live without God in your life. YOU ARE the one keeping him there by making it such a big deal about it.

And if people want to live and believe in something, then kudos to them. Every one needs something different and if religion is what they want and what they need to be a better person why are you trying to put that down?

    i agree with Martin_200808 completely.

  • Scoot

    One benefit of religion:

In general, if a person is sane, well-adjusted, and intelligent religion can simply be a catalyst for doing good. I have met several people who match this description and they are some of the coolest people on the planet.

It is not religion that is the problem. It is unintelligent human beings that are the problem. Stupid people need to die in order for the world to survive. If we as a species continue to live with the notion that everyone deserves to live as long as possible, we will drive ourselves to extinction.

The right to life needs to be earned and held, it shouldn’t be a privilege.

I can tell you why religion is here. Thousands of years ago when Government was first created the Government created it to keep people in line. It gave them a reason to live and consequences after death for wrong doing. But that doesn’t mean I believe, it means just the opposite.

JESUS LOVES ALL OF YOU THE SAME EITHER WAY …IM A STRONG BELIEVER IN JESUS AND I HATE WHEN PEOPLE ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANS TRY TO ARGUE N FIGHT WITH PEOPLE ABOUT HOW WERE RIGHT AND THEIR WRONG…IF YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS GREAT MORE POWER TO YA BUT DONT TRY TO FORCE IT ON SOME ONE.. …THANK YOU LORD

    Maybe this is right.

close-minded, let people believe in what they believe in, regardless of whether you agree or not. Those who do believe in god could certainly come here and run there mouths about those who don’t but why does it matter, worry about yourselves? Everyone has they’re own beliefs?

    That’s why it’s called BELIEVING

  • God

I am God, I use bible pages to roll dank bud up into an herbal cigarette.

  • punkkkkkkkyouup

    It’s funny because it’s true!

… and because there is no god.

  • Bible=Comic book

The bible is a glorified comic book……Jesus cures the blind, brings back life, walks on water. – All we need is the Kapow’s and BOOM’s added with a few cool looking pictures. More people would actually read it then.

I have “faith” that god doesnt exist, prove me wrong
