This has never been done before…
hopefully not, ie is bloatware, its filled with security holes, it performs slower than all of its competitors. and to top it all of, it might be a matter of taste, but the general consensus among enthusiasts is that while the ui has gotten a lot better over the years, its still just poorly designed.
either people dont care what browser they use, they don’t know better, or they work for microsoft. well either that, or its a force of habit from the workplace, where the it department has taken their classes at a microsoft sponsored school.
(bonus info: in case you didn’t know. microsoft has made exclusive deals with schools, and governments around the world, as well as private schools to provide software for free, or at highly reduced prices, to make sure that people are used to working with their products from a very young age. and provide financially beneficial agreements to large corporations, to make sure people are forced to use their products at home as well. very smart buisiness move, but not really the ethical choice, guess smart marketing is the only way to sell inferior products.)
Alexander,
I think you missed the joke. It says: IE is the number one browser…for downloading a better browser!
Regarding your bonus info, you’re talking about the MSDN Academic Alliance. Yes, this does give them a major advantage in the market.
actually i got the joke, was responding to their facebook post, asking if there was any ie users out there that was actually proud of it. in retrospect, i should probably have posted it on facebook.
This is so true from the moment i get a new PC or just finished a new windows instillation i use I.E. to either download firefox or chrome.
