Can’t tell if fake or not… seems ridiculous enough that it could be.
fake or not, it amused me.
if you live in India you need an Indian name?
Well! It seems fake. We are no longer required to hide our nationality or names while working for such accounts. In fact, it has never been the case in tech support. For cold calling in sales may be…but then I am sure one can pull the bluff on the accent. And yes, Indians can have all kinds of names…most of the people down south follow Christanity and such [english] names are very much common.
it happen to me once
I had one insist she was an American. When I called her on it, telling her no American has THAT accent, she said, “Well, my mother was Indian, but I was raised here (in the U.S.).
I didn’t have the heart to tell here that many, many Americans have foreign-born parents, but going through our education system, and hanging around Americans, the kids develop American accents. They DON’T have their parents’ accents.
I just let it go. What the heck. Who cares?
Outsourced centers have accent trainers who train recruits on American accents…and this incident is very true, because they are assigned American nicknames.
What if he just said he came from America to India?!
WHY THE FK WOULD ANYONE DO THAT? Judging by your name, you’re indian and therefore nationalistic so I can see why you would ask that, but I think you know the reason.

dfsf8779 is a tosser.
Reminds me of Gregory- Atmanand in movie Horrible bosses. It clearly explains why American nick names are assigned to call center operators.
