All of you correcting “theirs” to “there’s” – correct usage would be “there have”. It’s plural. Also, “things”. If you’re going to grammar-pick, do it proper.
For everyone correcting “theirs” to “there’s”: correct usage would be “there have”, as it’s plural. Also, “things.” If you’re going to grammar-pick, do it properly.
You’re wrong. “There has been a few things on my mind” is grammatically incorrect; A few means it’s a plural object, meaning multiple things have been on your mind; with one object, one thing has been on your mind. Therefore, “There have been a few things on my mind”.
“Anything that can be said, can (and should) be said clearly.”
An occasional misspelling can be overlooked, but constant spelling and grammatical errors makes me wonder just how much the author cares about not only his or her readers, but about the subject matter as well. If attention to detail is lacking on a continual basis, why would that not extend to all aspects of the author’s works?
This medium, above all others, requires clarity and precision when communicating concepts and ideas. lest those be misconstrued and misunderstood.
“Eats, shoots and leaves” versus “eats shoots and leaves.”
“Hey! Your back!”
“What about my back?”
“Huh?”
Perhaps we are becoming the society portrayed in the movie “Idiocracy” after all.
The funny thing is, those of you who are correcting others have mistakes in your corrections. Those of you who are correcting the cartoon are even worse because you have missed the point to begin with.
Kathleen, oh my dear Kathleen. Wow, you really think you corrected him? LOL @ you. Bakari was correct with his statement, pointing out that the author may have PURPOSELY spelled “can’t” without the apostrophe, and to emphasize it, they should have put the quotation mark around it. There was no need to destroy his sentence the way you did. You put the punctuation mark INSIDE of the quotation if you are quoting an entire sentence. If you are emphasizing a word as this gentleman did, the period belongs OUTSIDE, because it is HIS sentence, not a quote from someone else.
It also scares me that you all put so much attention on “cant” being wrong that you ignored “ignoere” being wrong.
I have to leave now, even Rooker’s typo is disturbing.
If you need any further assistance, I’m a rapper but I can pose as an English teacher if you need me to.
I add posts to my blog in flurries of inspiration. I often find comments pointing out my errors. Grammar nazis are a plentiful bunch. See how they have destroyed my site. johnnysoup.wordpress.com/ Righteous a-holes. I should have paid attention in school.
These comments are full of trolls. They should get a life, and not bother correcting the mistake in the picture. The mistake IS the point, you bunch of humor-sapping jerks.
Meg, Nazis doesn’t need an apostrophe, and thanks for the Godwin’s law. Also, shouldn’t the comic say, “haven’t had” rather than “haven’t got”? Unless it was an intentional mistake.
I’m laughing at the silly people here who are saying, “It’s ‘can’t’ you noob!” to the writer of this silly thing. He knows it’s “can’t,” and that’s why it’s funny! It’s also “ignore.” Not as many morons are catching that one. GET A SENSE OF HUMOR, AND PLEASE PRACTICE UNDERSTANDING SARCASM WHEN YOU SEE IT!!!!! noobs
For fuck sakes people are your life’s so god damn miserable that you get your kicks from pointing out typos and misspelled words on websites just to make you feel better? I’m the biggest lurker in the world and this is probably the 20th comment thread I’ve read and gotten the feeling to plant a tire iron into someone’s face. I’m not a violent person by nature but something about grammar Nazis tick me off. Good comic though. Oh and nobody should bother replying to this, I never revisit sites unless they are of use to me. (Demonoid, last.fm, and so forth…)
if those who were correcting the comic strip were serious, they missed the whole point. since i generally have positive opinions about people, i just can’t believe they were serious. they must have been sarcastic. or were they sardonic?

Can’t
is spelled with an apostrophe you noob.
“Can’t”.
Learn to spell asshat it’s:
“there’s been a few things on my mind lately”
jesus wept
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a weiner.
that’s the point.
Actually, it’s “There have been a few things on my mind lately.”
Since “few things” is plural, it should be “have” and not “has,” which would make it “there’s.”
Grammar Nazi? Does it mean only your own grammar rules are the right ones?
“Can’t” is spelled with an apostrophe you noob.
You have to name this… “the law of white bunny” or something like that.
It’s really inconsiderate to make your page so that I can’t navigate back with the Back button. Tool.
try not opening stuff in new tabs then..
Is it wrong that I searched this page for grammar and spelling misteaks?
No one misspells it as “misteaks”. That’s so ridiculous!!!
All of you correcting “theirs” to “there’s” – correct usage would be “there have”. It’s plural. Also, “things”. If you’re going to grammar-pick, do it proper.
*properly
Should be:

I’m not positive, but I would think that “there’s” could be the contraction of “there has”, making it work just fine.
You’re wrong. “There has been a few things on my mind” is grammatically incorrect; A few means it’s a plural object, meaning multiple things have been on your mind; with one object, one thing has been on your mind. Therefore, “There have been a few things on my mind”.
Hurt feelings and laziness are no excuse for not being able to communicate.

Gotten.
There should be no hyphen between carefully and worded. So say the experts I trust.
Yes, there should be. Carefully-worded itself, as a cluster, is one descriptor, not two.
Actually, @Bakari, when you’re using quotation marks at the end of a sentence, the other punctuation mark goes inside the final quotation mark.
So “Oh, you forgot to put quotation marks around ‘Cant.’”
/end_snark
I just wanted to take this opportunity to inform you all that you all loose the game
