    What if doctors went to school for the same length of time as web developers.

      OK, builders then, or dentists, or [insert job here]. The point is web developers (in fact anyone in computing in general) are always asked to do work for free yet you wouldn’t expect that of other professions. You wouldn’t say to a builder “While you’re erecting that wall could you also build my extension and do a loft conversion?” would you?
