Though you have a point, it is ILLEGAL to copy original pictures posted on the owner’s web-site (by the owner) without referencing either the original owner or web-site. Also, it WAS sort of ridiculous how the e-mail sender implied that he would sue for basically the right’s to the e-mail receiver’s photos and because of the fact that he/she changed domains.
If it’s legit, the guy is a tool.

Encourage him to call his lawyer. Better yet, forward him to the lawyer directory and tell him to pick any lawyer he likes.
It is clearly that guy’s fault. Apparently he was too stupid to do what I do. Why didn’t he copy the images and put them on his site without external links like I do?

The e-mail does not look 100% legitimate. I could have another mail account and send it to my óft used account.
Very, funny. There are many ways of preventing this. I believe disabling url_fopen in php.ini stops this if you have access to it.
I had a site that was totally hotlinked, the entire site. I wrote a little rule that replaced the regular images with porn for anyone hotlinking. The site remained the same, but his site…LOL…boy was he PO’d
