There isn’t a clear cut between Geek and Nerd, but rather a spectrum. People can be anywhere along the spectrum and have qualities of both.
I always identify as a geek, but (according to the infographic anyway) I’m somewhere in the middle.
I agree with you. Geek and Nerd are different, but they can definitely overlap.
I even think that Dork is different, too. All 3 are unique in their own ways.
Has dork stopped being a derogatory term, then?
I think all 3 are still used in a derogatory sense. Geek is definitely the least derogatory of the 3, though. Then comes Nerd, then Dork.
In fact, I don’t think anyone ever uses Dork except in the derogatory sense.
My sister uses a Mac! Not a Geek or a Nerd!
Idiot then
inovation of cools ideas
lol, geeks do job of bartender :D
Definitely whoever made this is a mac fanboy. You don’t have to own a mac to be a real geek. You may wish to get one, but not necessarily have one.
Thanks for this, I was trying to clarify things with a neighbour just before Christmas so I have sent him the link. Geeks, in my experience fix stuff for friends and get phone calls asking for advice. Whilst I’m here why is the epithet “fanboy” always attached to Mac users (like me)? Presumably by Windows Nerds. So what shall we call them? Losers? Virus Lovers? Drens? Mmmm….thinks.
Shut up! Fangimp
I’m a bit of both. Hate Apple Products so I guess I could be a bit more nerdy lol
Here’s one called Geeks vs Hipsters from the same designers: http://www.becomecareer.com/geeks-hipsters/
