      Oh come on! It’s a felony to go up to a person, flash a badge and say “I’m a federal agent”. But this is just an obvious joke that only an idiot would believe. Probably the FBI would have a good laugh at this as well.

      Impersonating a public official is against the law, however

      1) There must be intent to harm or obtain information to benefit the impersonator
      2) FBI is an acronym that can stand for countless things
      3) an SSID name usually reflects a source not a person. the person behind the source would have to be committing a crime or crude act.

      question if I rename my linksys router ssid d-link is that impersonation or considered stealing a trademarked name?

    I caught my neighbor on my mom’s open network. the pc exposed her user name to me so i labeled the network “britneyreevesstealsinternet”
