As evil as Micro$oft is often made out to be, this is actually very cool. I wonder if Google’s leading men will ever join in on this?
No matter how hard the man may tries he can’t redeem the soul he sold when he ruined many great thinkers, and friends’, lives by stealing their ideas, patenting them and then crushing them. Either by forcing profits from them to keep their factories/inventions/operations or shutting them down completely and profiting 100% from their creativity but “his” patents. And these were colleagues and friends from the early computer discussion groups, he wasn’t so kind to others he didn’t know.
Good luck w/buying back that soul, Bill. Thanks for any discoveries made today but have a nice forever in hell.
You are a moron
Wow … I mean, wow … I’m not going to defend Gates’ business record, but, man, do you have your priorities screwed up. It’s an unfair comparison, like apples and oranges. I could forgive almost any amount of business skullduggery if the person stopped that behaviour, turned around, and saved 1,000 lives, let alone 5.8 million Human life is more important than software patents.
amazing how easily people miss the point when saving the lives of people who put themselves in the crapper is concerned. He ‘did’ ruin thousands of lives, that’s the point. As for the worldwide charity work to help countries that can’t look after themselves. Where were they when our countries went through the same crap. Lest we all forget, if you don’t earn the life you have you are not capable of living it the way you are supposed to. That’s why these people become immigrants stripping other peoples resources applying stoneage mindsets to living in ‘our’ first world countries.
interestingly put, I think the same. You can’t ignore the things they’ve done because they give away money they couldn’t spend anyway
@ Armitage check your history, not what “you did for us today”.@ metazai don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful that he’s trying to help the world and will perhaps succeed. It’s more that for him, personally, I feel that ruining—and I mean ruining—other people’s lives some of which never recovered emotionally, physically, psychologically, let alone financially, you need to meter any praise with a healthy dose of reality. Like so much out there, sound bites and quick judgements are the normal litmus test for truth.
Take the time to really research the man and his actions prior to and during his MicroSoft days before you lionize him. A few years of good deeds, regardless how great, are tough to reconcile with a lifetime of relative evil.
I admire his current efforts but have a difficult time reconciling them with his past ”sculduggery”. Blood-money helping a good, even great, cause still feels tainted, at best.
So one can’t help thinking that, at least some level (I suspect a high one), he’s attempting to redeem himself. Saving his “soul” however you’d like to interpret that.
Pretty sure he’s not better than batman!!!XD
Why can nobody remember the second “t” in Warren Buffett’s last name?
