    It’s popular to be paranoid these days. Truth is, apart from better targeted ads, Google doesn’t really care what you’re doing. Nor does the rest of the world.

    This video proves that Google is a big company. All of these claims are also true for the alternatives (Yahoo!, Bing Maps, Facebook, etc). Yes, the company has an incredible amount of power and influence at its disposal, but experience shows it’s used for innovation, not evil world domination.

    If you really think the CEOs of Google want to sit on a throne at the top of the world, then you’ve got another thing coming. Everybody benefits from their products and to make them better, Google needs to know things. If I want directions to a house, how is Google going to give them to me without knowing where it is? If I want to know what kinds of diseases I am vulnerable to, someone needs to know about my body. If Google wants to contribute to solving problems, it needs to be able to analyze data on a scale never seen before.

    People seem to expect a massive computational disaster once all this data is mined, but I”m telling you that the worst that could happen is it gets lost or destroyed. If you really think the employees at Google or anyone else in the world is sitting on Google, looking at all your private data, and laughing at you, I think you’re not really concerned with the rest of the world, you’re just a self-centered moron.
