I own a Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone, running Windows Phone 8. It features a rear-facing 8.7-megapixel camera equipped with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and is capable of 1080p HD video capture, with PureView technology. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, is 1.3 megapixel with video capture in 720p resolution. It’s all very nice, and the results are stunning when played back on a big screen TV, PC, tablet or on the phone itself.

One of the biggest things that happened this week was the launch of paid channels on YouTube. While limited in number and availability to start, this is not something that's going to stay small for long. YouTube is a video platform that's always been completely free, and although ads are becoming more and more common, asking people to pay for channel subscriptions is quite a leap of faith from Google. Google announced on Thursday the launch of a pilot program designed to offer paid channels on YouTube with subscription fees starting at $0.99 per month. The program kicked off with a small group of partners including the producers of Sesame Street, Big Star Movies, DHX Kids TV, National Geographic Kids, Primezone Sports, and TYTPlus.

Cleanr Video is a simple extension for Chrome, Firefox and Safari that removes everything – and I mean everything – from YouTube beyond what you absolutely need. Comments, recommended videos, ads – all gone, and in their place white space. If minimalism sounds good, this is one to check out.

If you are wondering what's going viral across the U.S., YouTube has the answer fon its newly launched interactive trends map. The Trends Map tells you at a glance which YouTube videos are popular according to both shares and views, and includes a breakdown of popular YouTube videos by region and city. Or at least that's the promise, as the map is currently only available for the U.S., but Google tells us to stay tuned for updates.

YouTube's comments section is one of the worst places on the web. On an Internet already full of nonsense no sane, intelligent person would want to spend their time reading, YouTube's comment section stands out. Whenever you're using YouTube, you might accidentally scroll down and see the stream of useless, nonsensical, and obnoxious comments. The people who left comments on bathroom stall walls in the days before the web seem to have migrated to YouTube.

Entertainment company Endemol is planning to increase its footprint on YouTube with a new channel featuring its popular reality game show, Fear Factor. The Fear Factor YouTube channel will launch in the U.S. first, followed by the European version of the channel. The channel, which is by no means Endemol's first, is part of a marketing strategy that seeks to leverage YouTube’s popularity by building a social community around shows cross-promoting on YouTube's menu.
