Acrobat.com is a collection of web applications from Adobe which includes lots of cool features.

Acrobat.com claims to offer the first real online word processor, web based file sharing and storage, ability to create PDF’s, online screen sharing and web conferencing.

Lets take a look at all of these one by one, shall we?

1. Adobe Buzzword

Adobe claims Buzzword to be the only real online word processor. They are justified in their claims as it turns out. For starters Buzzword supports the docx format, but that’s not all as it has a host of cool features that takes it closer to the desktop experience.

As a writer for several sources, I often need to focus very hard on getting the work done. But it can sometimes be difficult. My main distraction is the internet. If something in my Firefox browser doesn’t catch my eye, then I am busy arranging and re-arranging my toolbars in Microsoft Word. So when someone recommended the free program JDarkRoom to me, I decided to try it out in the interests of productivity and not getting fired.

PDF Hammer

PDFHammer is a web-based application that allows you to merge and rearrange PDF documents online. It’s extremely easy-to-use and runs directly from the browser. Just upload your PDF files and start arranging the pages in any order you want. You can also delete any page you want. Once done, use the “Export Final PDF” button to download ready PDF to your PC.

There is a feature in Microsoft Word which allows you to add password to your word documents. This is especially useful if the document is sensitive (such as a password list, bank details or a business proposal). If your computer is accessed by an unauthorised user, having passwords protecting your secret documents may just be what you need to maintain your privacy.

Just open Word, go to the Tools menu, select Options and then select the Security sub-tab. You will then see this box :

Ever since Google shook up the status quo by introducing Google Docs, the number of online word processors seems to be on the rise. Google’s nearest competitor seems to be, from where I’m sitting, Zoho Writer, who announced recently that they were introducing an offline version using, ironically enough, Google Gears.

But Adobe has also entered the bustling online word-processing market by bringing out Buzzword. What makes this different though from all the rest is that :

• It’s Flash-based.
• It’s a simple eye-pleasing design (and it is remarkably easy to use).
