The Winners of ‘Extend Firefox’ - Best Firefox Addons

Firefox is close to our hearts. In the past, we’ve reviewed a number of Firefox add-ons here on Make Use Of. Any guesses what this article is about? Yes, you’ve guessed it - it’s the ever popular Firefox add-ons list compilation.

However this time, its a list with a difference. The add-ons in this list are the Winners of the Extend Firefox contest organised by Mozilla Labs.

The add-ons are classified into three categories.

Zigtag - A Web App For Extreme Tagging (BETA Invites Included!)

zigtagZigtag is an awesome social networking, web tagging, digg-type site. The name should give most of it away - Zigtag - tagging being their main purpose. It essentially makes available all of the sites that people thought were cool.

Zigtag is currently in private BETA, yet the wonderful folks at Zigtag have given MakeUseOf readers exclusive BETA invites. The only other thing you need is their Firefox/Internet Explorer Add-On which allows you to add tags, share pages, etc. (You are also able to simply drag and drop a bookmarklet if you are unable to install the add-on.)

Organize and Tag your Music Library with Mp3tag

image By now, most of us have copious amounts of MP3 files floating around our hard drives. If you’re like me, a digital packrat, you’ll have gigs stored away because you never delete anything. Sometimes, these files just don’t have the tags they’re supposed to. Sometimes, you might even get some bogus copies of MP3s without proper IDv3 tags. Whatever the reason, you need to be able to quickly go through your MP3 collection (or parts of it) and re-tag or rename your music files.

How to Edit Your Music ID3 Tags with Audioshell

One of the goodies I received from Santa was the new CD album by the Eagles and as always, when I get a new CD, I make a private MP3 backup copy on the computer using CDex. But one of the really annoying things about having a MP3 copy is that each song comes out on the computer as “audiotrack1.mp3″, “audiotrack2.mp3″, etc. Even if you manually rename the song title in Windows Explorer, it still comes out in media players as “audiotrack1.mp3″ or “untitled1.mp3″ as below:
