It took long enough, but Netflix has finally decided to roll out their popular streaming service in the United Kingdom and Ireland. They will be going head to head with popular services such as Amazon-owned Lovefilm, and with the slew of problems Netflix has had recently, getting a foothold there may not be so easy. However, Netflix needs a new market, and the UK and Ireland is the perfect place.

You can’t walk five feet these days without bumping into a cloud storage service. Dropbox, Sugarsync, Box.net, Syncplicity…the list goes on and on. All of these services are easy to use, but they are true clouds. All of your data is kept in a remote location, which leaves you with limited control over its security and limited storage space.

Both David and Dean discussed how you can get started in your own talk show host career by launching an Internet radio show, but what if you’re looking for popular radio show hosts to listen to while you’re online?

I first introduced the Plex media center app to you a few months ago as my Media Center app of choice, mainly because of it’s superb meta-data handling. The one major drawback was that the client software was not available for Windows which had just the server software. Plex have finally got around to releasing a Windows client, as well as streamlining their server offerings. Let’s take a look at at it all.

Adobe has launched a new photo sync service by the name of Carousel. This service, currently only available for Mac OS X Lion and iOS, is an alternative for Apple’s new Photo Stream and allows photo sync across multiple devices. The service, however, is not entirely free. Mac and iOS apps are free, but the cloud storage itself currently costs $6 per month. You can try a full month for free before you decide to pay.

Today’s new music tool is JamCloud, which is an awesome new way of listening to music and watching videos socially. Users create listening rooms with their friends or like-minded listeners and vote on the tracks being played. DJs take turns and build ratings as they go, while anyone can build playlists for personal or public use.

Ever since iOS 4.2 came around, iOS device users have had the option to use AirPlay to stream media from their device to other machines over shared wi-fi. There are several AirPlay clients around for Mac, but being a Windows user I’ve been searching for a solution that will stream media from my iPad to my Windows PC. Finally I found Air Stream Media Player.

Listen to any episode of This American Life, anytime, for free. That’s access to nearly 450 hour-long episodes, all fascinating. You may not realize it, but the popular radio show from Public Radio International offers a free stream for every episode the show has ever produced right on its website.

An issue I encountered when I first received my iPhone was the inability to stream my fairly well-organised music and video collection direct to my new device. I don’t use iTunes other than on my iPhone for the odd podcast, mainly because I’m primarily a Linux user, so I thought I would try Air Playit for Windows and Mac OS X.
