The online world offers many privacy concerns. We all know we should not post private things on Facebook, we mustn’t write down our e-mail address in conspicuous places, and we really should pay attention, as much as we can, to how big companies like Google use our private information. Yes, we all know these things. The problem with these privacy concerns is that there’s something really vague about them.

Sometimes on social sharing sites and social networks, there are deviants – the “rebels” who set out just to make your life a little more miserable. Granted, it’s not so much that they are bad folks (I’m sure that in real life they volunteer at soup kitchens and work with after school programs), but when they provide or comment on links to articles, their dark side comes out.

When Google + finally came out, I actually avoided using it for up to a year. Not only was I skeptical, but I’ve been an initial user of a social network before, and it’s absolutely no fun. Once I signed up, I was able to find my way around in due course, but I discovered that there were a few things about Google Plus that I really liked, and a few things that I didn’t like at all.

I hate it when apps ask for permission to access my friends list, access my birthdate, and worse of all, post on Facebook as me. If you feel the same way Facebook apps and permissions, and were wishing for a way to control these permissions somewhat, even if just to feel like you’ve done something to protect your privacy, fPrivacy for Chrome could be your new best friend.

Talent.me is the latest job networking tool to hit the market and it really shows some promise. It’s simple to set up, easy to use and could well find you a new position. Basically, there’s nothing to lose so you may as well sign up and give it a go. Here’s a little bit of a run-down.

Pinterest is an online pinboard which allows you to share images by ‘pining’ them to your profile. I am sure you will while away a few hours playing around creating pretty image boards or pinboards. I did too, but then I also realized that Pinterest can also be used like a vision board for personal development and productivity. Here are a few ideas.

We recently talked about an easy way to clear up email notifications, but that doesn’t mean Facebook notifications themselves aren’t still a problem. These notifications are great when they actually pertain to you and are relevant to what is currently going on in your life, but sometimes they simply don’t. It gets really annoying, and yes… this is all silly.

Capable of supporting multiple accounts, Tweetdeck was arguably the best Twitter app for Windows, but the new version has failed to live up to the legacy, largely due to problems signing in. As a result there are many users looking for alternatives – but fortunately it doesn’t take much effort to revert to the “classic” Tweetdeck and carry on using the software as before.

The one thing that I’ve always struggled with is finding a really good mobile app that gives me the level of interaction with Facebook that I have when I’m sitting at home on the PC. I’ve been using the official mobile Facebook app for quite a while, but I find that it’s somewhat slow on the Android, and the most recent version has started crashing on me. However, recently I came across the mobile Seesmic app.

As Yaara announced last week, NASA has recently launched it’s first Facebook app called Space Race Blastoff. Usually I’m not really into Facebook apps – they waste way too much time and I end up falling behind in my work. What I found with Space Race Blastoff however was that it wasn’t a waste of time at all. It’s a brilliant way to clear your mind, and it’s really fun to go head-to-head with other real players on Facebook.
