One thing that I’ve always wanted to get working better with Google Analytics is an automated reporting feature that provides the information that I want and in the format that is easy for whoever needs to see the data, to understand what it means. Recently, Google has made a few changes to Analytics custom reporting that has made it much easier to work with.

Search engine optimization. It’s a controversial topic these days. Lots of professionals have their own opinions about what constitutes a good SEO strategy. Some people insist that a solid keyword strategy is the only thing that matters, while other SEO pundits lambast the “keyword” contingent. Google Analytics is the most popular website analytics platform for website owners today. There are certainly others to choose from, such as the three open source tools Danny wrote about, the free analytics tools Rich wrote about, or the eight live analytics tools that Dave covered. Regardless, no other analytics tool has seen the adoption rate that Google Analytics has.

Available for free, and capable of providing excellent data, Analytics is a must-have. The basic site isn’t well optimized for mobile devices however, which can be frustrating for webmasters who want to keep tabs on sites without dragging around a laptop.
