If you’re looking for suggestions for the next good book to read, the social networking site Goodreads has launched a Netflix-style book recommendation feature for members of its site. According to a recent Goodreads blog post, book recommendations will “take into account what you like and don’t like and what certain books mean to you”.

Seeing how Amazon is probably launching their new reader/tablet device in the next couple of months and recently produced their ingenious Cloud Reader, the Kindle is a hot topic for a lot of people. Even after a multitude of other tablets have surfaced after its birth, the Kindle remains a great e-book reader gadget and of course, still packs a lot of potential for reading enthusiasts.

There are many reasons a person might want to learn how to speed read. Students or just interested learners of a given subject, know that effective speed reading would give a huge advantage to the student. Much of the world’s best educational material is written down, so if you can read and comprehend that information quickly you will be able to learn a lot with your reading time.

A while ago I wrote a post about places to find free books for the iPad. In that post, I compared the iPad to designated eReaders and expressed the opinion that it’s not a worthy substitute. Following some comments on the matter I tested the iPad again as a regular vessel for eBooks and was surprised – it does provide quite a good experience.

I really enjoy reading books. I have a Kindle and I use it all the time. But sometimes a book isn’t always what I need. There are times when I have just a couple of minutes to fill, or when I’m somewhat distracted. For those times, a magazine works much better, and while I can read newspapers and magazines on the Kindle, I was intrigued by Zinio which offers paid magazines for Android.

If there is one area in life that I believe technology will never completely eradicate older “technology” is in the area of reading. While many people have adopted the great e-book readers and publications that are available out there, I believe there will always be people who will enjoy the experience of holding and reading a real, printed book.

Amazon has recently released another version of its e-book reader called Kindle Cloud Reader. Unlike the iOS mobile Kindle app, the Cloud Reader is HTML 5 web-based in which Amazon members can access all of their Kindle library books via the web. This new reader comes partly in response to Apple’s 30% sales tax requirement for iOS app publishers.

If you’ve an avid Google Reader user, you might be interested in a new Adobe Air supported app called Readefine, which basically gives a fresh design to Google’s popular RSS feed reader. It also means accessing Google Reader in a separate application that you can run on your Mac, Windows, or Linux-based computer.
