Cloud Print adds another arrow to your mobile office arsenal. Now, Google has released a free Android app for Cloud Print that enables you to print from any Android device with a Cloud Print connected printer. If you have always wanted to print from your phone or tablet easily and quickly, Cloud Print is probably the fastest solution you can set up.
Printing has changed in Windows 8 – there’s now a standard way of printing in every Modern app. However, like many things about Microsoft’s new Modern interface, printing is not immediately intuitive for many users, especially those used to the old way of printing. Printing is still the same on the desktop, so you don’t have to learn anything new for your desktop applications. Windows 8 also has a new printer driver system that attempts to support more printers with less drivers.
So much for the paperless office! The integration of information technology has seemingly increased the amount of paper printing we have to do. So pretty much everyone with a computer needs a printer at some point in time. The problem is figuring out which printer is the best one for your budget AND workload. Laser, colour, inkjet, large format, photo quality, all-in-one, WiFi enabled, monochrome…there are a lot of jargon words around printers.
No matter how hard you try to go paperless, sometimes you just need to print that webpage. It might be for directions, an article for class, a handout for a meeting at work, etc. As much as we’d like to go as digital as possible with our smartphones, laptops and tablets, occasionally we need to go back to the “old fashioned” method of printing. That said, printing is expensive and you shouldn’t just print the webpage with all the ads and flash media.
