Dota 2 is a huge game right now, and while it may not be as popular as League of Legends, it is hot on its heels with an ever rising player base. As a whole, the MOBA genre is growing by leaps and bounds every single day, with new players discovering it and deciding to take the time to learn what these games bring to the table. With all of that being said, Dota 2 and League of Legends are hard games to learn.

As an avid League of Legends player for the past year, I'd be a complete liar to say I haven't learned my fair share about the game purely from copying the strategies of others. That's fine though, because the League of Legends community seems incredibly generous in sharing their builds and other ideas. Ten years ago Bioware released a game called Neverwinter Nights. Though disappointing as a single-player RPG, the campaign wasn't really the point. Instead, the game focused on user-generated multiplayer content built with the amazingly powerful Aurora toolset. The great thing about online gaming is that there are no restrictions. If you learn the game and you own a computer, you have just as good of a shot as anyone at becoming a professional. You don't need to know the right people. You don't need some sort of scholarship or anything like that. While not specifically marketed for tablets, let's face it - to fully experience any FPS game, you really need the larger screen of a tablet. You can purchase from a long list of great first person shooters for an Android Tablet, but if you're looking for the affordable option - aka free - Critical Strike is the way to go. The quality of the game jumps right out at the main window when you launch the game.

Looking back over this game today, I can't imagine what would have initially attracted me to osu!, because I've always been terrible with mouse-heavy games and I've never been a fan of J-pop or K-pop. That being said, I've somehow been addicted to this game since the first time I played it. If you've played Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, or any other game in that genre, you know that it feels completely different from any other gaming experience.

Smokin' Guns isn't like the usual military-style shooting games like Call of Duty or Metal of Honor. It also isn't like the surreal, monster-filled Doom-esque games that fill the gamestore shelves. No - this game is all about a gunfighter and his gun. Just trying to survive in a crazy, wild place where everyone else also has a gun with a bullet that has your name on it.

The best video games are often those with simple ideas at their core. Tetris is a perfect example - it's simply piling odd-shaped blocks together in order to form a solid wall, and yet it's highly addictive, even if you're only playing the unofficial online clones of Tetris. Then there is Angry Birds, which is addictive for many reasons. Even Call Of Duty is simple in the sense that you shoot the bad guys, and that sells like the proverbial hotcakes.

I reached a point where I decided that the Halo franchise just was not for me. Despite breaking the single-day record for sales of a PC game, at 3.5 million, I feel as if Diablo III has turned out to be a bit of a flop. The game had a rocky start with a release that was riddled with crashes, and a huge base of players have severe gripes about the game's difficulty and gameplay in general. Luckily for me, Path of Exile has just come out of closed beta and is available for anyone to play.

Bloodline Champions (BLC) is a top-down F2P game with high hopes: to create a game where players can play against each other in an arena that rewards skill, not repetition or luck. If you’ve ever heard of the term “e-sports,” this game is a prime candidate. It’s all about aiming, timing, reacting, and making the right decisions - and it’s HARD.
