Mobile apps have ‘reformed’ us in more ways than we can imagine. Let’s think about our daily need to motivate and push ourselves into action. Thanks to the glut of motivational apps on the Android market, goading yourself into action is now just a pocket away.

Inspiration and motivation comes to each of us in many forms. For some it could like in words of wisdom, for others it could lie in uplifting images, and for a few it could be in a germ of an idea.

The Android universe has an app for most of our inspirational needs, so let’s check out the Android Market and see which motivational Android apps can give us the daily dose of motivation that we need when we flag off.

Inspirational Quotes

Inspiring quotes are probably the easiest way to motivate ourselves by a little each day. There are quite a lot of quote collections that can be found by the way of apps, but this one is the most popular. Unlike the one-quote-a-day variety, you can refer to the wisdom sayings any time you want. The app is also well designed with very few controls. You can easily share a liked quote with your social network and there could be many in the 670 quotes that this app carries. It works with Android 1.6 and above.

GoalTracker

Motivation falls by the wayside if you don’t have goals to aspire to. GoalTracker helps you keep sight of your goals. GoalTracker is simple to set up – you list your goals one at a time and assign it to two types. Yes/No for things like – Did I exercise today? Numeric for things which you need to quantify like the number of pages you read. Each individual goal can be assigned an interval (daily, weekly, monthly), start and end days, and a target value which is like the score for achieving this particular goal. You can put different goals in different categories and also embellish the goals thumbnail with pictures. You can track goals every day and also set reminder alerts. It works with Android 1.6 and above.

The Bucket List

Remember when we talked about the Bucket List? Looking at the response that came in made me realize that most of us have one tucked somewhere. This free Android app helps you create one on your phone. It’s the to-do list for your entire life. You can share your list with others and get inspired and also inspire others along the way. The Bucket List allows you to easily enter your life to-dos and set their priority levels. You can cross each one as you set out to achieve them. It works with Android 1.5 and above.

Rainbow Idea

Ideas can motivate us. More so if you decorate them with colors. And Rainbow Idea is a dead simple Android app that takes ideas and arranges ideas around colors. Ideas can be given any color out of the seven colors of the rainbow for one particular theme. Ideas can be displayed as color circles, blocks, or list. The developer likens the app to a simple mind map. It works with Android 1.6 and above.

Meditation Helper

All the wisdom in the world won’t be able to help you if you cannot quiet your mind. Zen and the art of meditation would be a bit farfetched to attain in a short time, but you can start with short bursts of meditation. The Meditation Helper is a timer which helps you along by allowing you to set a target and logging how many consecutive days you are hitting it. If practice makes perfect, then this app attempts to aid you in that with its simple start and end chime. It works with Android 2.1 and above.

The other meditation timer you can take a look at is Meditation Support Timer.

Do you have an Android app installed that injects some inspiration or motivation each day?

Lack of motivation still runs unrestrained. It stonewalls us at every turn and twist. But as a wise man once said – “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

How to motivate yourself isn’t taught in schools. It is something each of us must learn to do on one’s own…or take the help of the web for some pointers. One of the pointers that will serve you well is to keep motivation triggers simple.

The simpler it is, the easier it will be to spend more time on action rather than the rigmarole of motivational mumbo jumbo. So, here are four really simple ways you can motivate yourself.

Don’t Break the Chain

Do you believe that a series of successful actions can spur you towards continuing the habit of success? If you do then Don’t Break the Chain is a motivational app that should be on your daily to-do list. It is apparently based upon a technique used by Jerry Seinfeld, the American stand-up comedian. It uses a simple 3-step process:

1. Pick a goal.

2. Mark off the days on which you work toward that goal.

3. Use your chain of marked off days as a motivator.

As you can see, it is a simple calendar based app that allows you to mark off successful days with a click. Registering into the site enables you to manage your chains and configure the calendar.

iDoneThis

This minimalistic app also believes in the “streak”. You get an email everyday asking you about your achievement for the day. Successful days are marked on a calendar, and the streak of successful days should motivate you to continue with what’s making it all happen in the first place. As the site says – Inch by inch, anything’s a cinch. This app works just as effectively for teams as it does for personal have done’s. (See Directory mention)

LazyMeter

LazyMeter is a nice and neat app that simplifies your over-complicated to-do list; one of the main bugbears for lack of productivity. LazyMeter focuses on one day and task at a time. It doesn’t allow you to over reach and take on too much at one time.

The interface comes with pause ‘n play buttons that help you manage tasks. You can place the task you are currently engaged in into the play category and the remaining ones in the pause category. Pressing pause delays the task and you can take it up later. Tasks can be halted by using the Stop category and completed tasks appear in the Completed category. A progress bar is a visual indicator of how you are faring with your tasks. Productivity can also be visualized with the help of simple stats and a bar chart. (See Directory mention)

Aherk

This is the first time I have hear about a “self-blackmailing” motivational service. But Aherk.com is intriguing. The site uses fear and pressure (though in a fun and harmless way) to motivate action. Aherk uses the social community (and Facebook) as a blackmailing medium. Set a goal and upload an embarrassing picture of yourself. If you don’t want the photo to be displayed for everyone on Facebook, you better get down to the grind and finish your task within the deadline. This app asks for a bit of risk taking on your part, but the results could be worth it. (See Directory mention)

We have covered a lot of ground when it comes to personal development and self-improvement. Behind both lies the propellant of motivation. Check out our complete range of motivational posts and pick out the simplest ones which you use. If it’s not here, tell us about your favorite motivational app.

What exactly is Mindbloom? Is it a mind mapping application? Is it a goal-setting motivational tool? Is it a social network? Or is it a game? By the time we finish this article, let’s hope we can swap all these questions with a few exclamations.

Mindbloom is actually a bit of all these, but primarily the concept of the Mindbloom life game seems to follow the old adage that a giant oak grows from a tiny acorn. Mindbloom believes that the journey of life or at least its planning should be fun. Mindbloom says it’s a fun, simple and effective way to improve the quality of your life.

The Metaphor of a Growing Tree

Mindbloom uses the image of a tree to symbolically show that like a tree which grows from an insignificant seed, life improvement is the result of continuous actions – little by little. Each positive step nourishes our life and fills it with passion and purpose. Thus the building blocks of life growth can be set with goals and goal setting exercises.

But all this need to be an exercise in drudgery; it can be turned into fun with motivational boosters like music, images, social support, and a little bit of play. Mindbloom is designed to be an interactive platform for such life building activities. Just how it does all this is the moot reason for this article.

Grow the Life You Want With the Step By Step Animated Game

Start growing the tree of your life by choosing an area that you would like to improve. You can just as easily choose multiple areas. Each area of life (for example, health) is represented by a young sapling. Music and the super cool interface help to make this an exercise in fun.

Just like a real sapling, you have to nurture this too with the right ingredients like sunlight (music, images); and water (simple actions). The music and images are the motivational boosters for simple actions.

The basic tutorial continues and you are then introduced to the Enlightening Bug who helps you through the registration and log-in process with your first ‘tree’. Careful attention to detail and the fun element marks this life tracking app out. For example, check out the following screen which selects your gender. Isn’t that a bit different from the humdrum!

At every step, you can choose to get inspired (nourish the tree with sunlight) or take an action (remember, water). Just like a real tree, proper nourishment will require a balance of both. If you decide to start off with a bit of inspiration, you didn’t do wrong as the browser fills up with beautiful high-resolution images related to the life area you had chosen. In my case it was health, and I got this to perk me up:

You can personalize the slideshow with your own images too.

Now, Take Some Actions

The little helpful bug says that you can create your own actions or get some help from the community. Every action you complete helps to water the tree and unlock points. Earned points give you new stuff to look at and play around with. For instance, I earned a few points and unlocked for myself a package bundle of images and action packs. A typical action pack looks like this:

And this is how you can get inspired:

<img class="aligncenter" style="border: 0pt none;"src="http://main.makeuseoflimited.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/mindbloom06.jpg?323f2c" alt="mindbloom review" width="590" height="324" />

I hope you understood how Mindbloom balances action with inspirational tidbits to help you along the path of self-improvement. Better still you cannot just waltz through as you have to use your actions to unlock the advanced stages. The rewards of achievements could lead to more discoveries at Mindbloom. You can even buy “seeds” and unlock more inspiration packs.

The Circle of Life…and Friends

Self-improvement need not be a solitary exercise. That’s where Mindbloom’s own community and your friends who are on other social hangouts like Facebook come into the picture and form the “forest of friends” around your growing sapling.

The community serves two purposes – Firstly, it introduces social accountability and secondly, it builds your support group when you need a push up the motivational path. For example, you can post inspiring images in the gallery and invite comments over it.

The Mindbloom Life Game Is Fun

Mindbloom is sheer eye candy but beneath the beautiful design everything comes together, well – beautifully. It is a mind mapping application but a zero effort one. It is a goal setting tool but one which forces you into a fun game. And yes, it is a social community too, one which you have to ‘answer’ to for motivation.

Join in and tell us if you think that the Mindbloom life game is one of the best personal development tools out there. It certainly is the most fun. I haven’t been able to cover all the interesting sidelights of the application, so do explore it and tell us yours.

New Years Resolutions are generally well intentioned attempts to kickstart ourselves into learning something new, losing weight, or saving money. Realistically though, they’re exceptional if they aren’t forgotten by February.

In fact, we’re now one week into the new year and how many of you actually stuck to your goals (or even bothered with them at all this year)?

But seriously now, let’s make this year the one where we really stick to our well made plans and finally achieve something worthwhile. Agreed? Read on for 3 solid ways to make those resolutions truly stick and make a difference in your lives.

Actionable Goals, not vague nonsense

The trouble with most of our New Years Resolutions are that they tend to be rather vague:

Save $10,000

Learn some Chinese

Work out everyday

As any entrepreneur and serious self-improvement guru types will tell you, these are useless. They don’t describe anything about the steps needed to get to that goal, and things like “learn some Chinese” don’t even define a specific endpoint. Although specific goals such as “save $10,000” are admirable, they sadly aren’t actionable – meaning there isn’t a specific, defined action you can take to work towards that goal (other than say, moving $10,000 from your checking to savings account, in which case you probably don’t need to make that a resolution anyway). No, no, these will never do. Instead, make your goals into smaller daily or weekly actionable items – like these:

Save $200 every week

Complete one full Rosetta Stone Chinese session everyday

Do 20 wall push-ups everyday

Do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise everyday

Can you see the difference? We’re still saving $10,000 a year, but it’s something we can check the action for every week, or tick off every day.

If you’re having trouble thinking of some specific actionable items for your vague goals, check out anti-resolution from MeYouHealth. It’s a simple web app that’ll present you with some real, actionable items after you’ve selected your vague goal.

Now, you should have a much better resolution list consisting of many small, finite actions that you can check off as you complete each day. The next step then, is to track your progress.

Tracking Progress

Tracking your activities, or how much progress is being made in the case of weight loss etc, is in itself a huge motivator. In fact, it’s often said that simply measuring your waist every day is a great way to lose weight as it makes you eat more consciously. Here’s a mixed bag variety of tools that I think might help you, but remember that a trusty Excel/Google Docs spreadsheet can work just as well sometimes.

EpicWin (iTunes Link – $1.99)

This is my personal tool of choice, and can be summarized as a comprehensive to-do list with RPG game elements. After having created your character and added some repeating actions with associated point value, you hold the action for a few seconds to trigger some battle music and complete the item, thereby adding the points, maybe levelling up, and possibly even finding some loot!

Ok, so there is no actual roleplay ‘game’ in that there are no real fights or adventuring, but it’s a lot more fun than simply ticking off a daily item, and you could even compete with friends if you agreed on point values I guess. Check out the awesome video:

1daylater.com

If your goals revolve around spending time on a task or saving money daily, this might be the perfect tool for you. The interface is incredibly simple and allows you to track multiple projects with ease.

DailyTodo.org

A single purpose web app that would be great for your homepage. Unfortunately, it literally only tracks daily actions, so if you have weekly or monthly actions then forget it. Very simple, very fast.

GoalBot

We covered this in the directory before – it allows you to break down large goals or projects into a number of smaller steps, rather than a repeating daily task, as well as having social features. The interface isn’t exactly friendly though.

Still Got No Ideas?

If you’re in the mood for some change but really don’t have anything specific in mind, try the Daily Challenge. Saikat covered this in depth last year, but basically the system will email you random challenges every day which you can either skip or complete in one click.

Get Motivated!

Even with specific small steps to our goals, it’s often easy to forget to do them for a day, then another day, until ultimately we just don’t care anymore. No amount of web apps is going to help you there, but it does help to be in the mental state of constantly thinking about self improvement. Sign up to some newsletters or RSS feeds from motivational speakers and self improvement experts to keep yourself on track and motivated to complete your goals.

When I was first into self-improvement, Steve Pavlina was a big influence and motivation for me, and while his blog is still active it does seem to have moved away from the core teaching lately. I highly recommend the old podcasts and article archives though.

TheChangeBlog is a great general-purpose self improvement blog with a fantastic zen design to help you focus on the fantastic advice within (like learning how to set specific goals!)

That’s all from me today, as I’m busy sticking to my rigorous new daily action schedule! Don’t forget to check out all our other Self Improvement tagged posts too. Here’s wishing you all the best – happiness, health and prosperity this year! If you’ve found some other great tracking tools or motivational podcasts etc, do please share with us all in the comments – or maybe you’re brave enough to tell us your new year resolutions?

After I finished my recent article on goal setting websites, I took a closer look at 43Things.com and realized how useful its features could be for keeping track of things I want to accomplish this year. I joined the site back in 2005 but have never used it on a consistent basis, nor have I taken advantage of its features.

Though New Year’s resolutions and goals could easily be typed and printed out on a sheet of paper, 43Things.com offers more useful features than pen and paper, and it provides a simple method for managing your goals without having to invest in complex personal management software.

The following are some suggested tips for using 43Things.com in a more dedicated manner.

Creating A List Of Things

First off, there’s no requirement that you must come up with a list of 43 things in order to use 43Things. To keep from feeling overwhelmed, you might start off with a short list of to-do’s that you can complete in the next three or four months.

Secondly, it’s a good idea to develop a mixture of goals consisting of personal, job-related, fun and relaxing activities. You should also include goals that you can accomplish in less than a day, and a few that you might work on each week throughout the year.

As you develop your list, keep in mind the S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relative, and Time-bound) goals strategy made popular by the management consultant Peter Drucker, to ensure that your goals are well-defined and achievable. For example, instead of writing, “Improve my finances,” be more Specific with the goal of paying off a credit card debt, or saving a specified amount of money.

Use the “Add entry” feature in 43Things to make a short to-do list for some of your more challenging goals. Include how you will Measure the progress of your goal (e.g. saving 20% of your monthly income); how the goal will be Attainable (do you have the resources that will help you do it?); is it Relevant to your own personal life or professional needs?; and Time- bound, with a beginning and ending point.

And since this is the beginning of a new year, you definitely want to add new resolutions to your list, as well check out the list of 43Thing’s worldwide most popular goals for more ideas.

Setting Reminders

The number one reason I didn’t use 43Things on a consistent basis in the past is because I never set up a way to go back and monitor and review my list on a regular basis. In 43Things you can click on a goal and set up a designated e-mail reminder.

43Things also includes a Personal Challenge feature designed for you to home in on one particular goal and achieve it by a certain date.

Though 43Things is an online site, it is still a good idea to also print your list of goals and post them where they can be viewed on a regular basis.

Getting Motivated

43Things also has built-in motivation features. For example, each time you visit the site take the time to “cheer” the goals and resolutions of other site members. In turn you will also receive cheers for your own to-do’s.

You should also use the “Add an entry” and “Ask for advice” features to write journal reflections or set up a plan of action for achieving a goal.

You should also click on the 43 Things Zeitgeist page and read the comments and questions by other members working on their goals and resolutions. I find that cheering and helping others with their goals motivates me to achieve my own.

Celebrate Accomplishments

After you complete a goal, 43Things asks you if the goal was worth accomplishing, and how you achieved it. This is not only a good reflective tool, but your responses could very well help others who are seeking to accomplish your achievements.

In addition to keeping a list of things you have accomplished, your 43Things profile also includes a Year in Review page that charts your activity on the site. It’s useful to look back and see what you have accomplished.

So will you be setting goals for the new year? Have you used 43Things.com before? Let us know about your experience.

It’s time to turn the calendar again. As soon as 2012 rolls in, out will come those lists of goals and resolutions. I guess that’s as common a human trait as any. What’s even more certain is that those resolution lists will see the bottom of a waste basket before the month is out. That’s the story with most of us who find it difficult to make habits stick. Why is it so?

Could it be because we let one day pass on to the next instead of really tracking our goals? Probably it is…as we fail to focus on the boring steps while trying to keep half an eye on the lofty goals. If changing habits and reaching for goals, a matter of routine, then RoutineTap is the personal tracking tool you can turn to.

Self-Motivation with RoutineTap

RoutineTap tracks your progress towards a goal with the help of raw data. The data is gleaned from the information you put in daily with the help of questions and answers. Think of it as a self-survey tool. RoutineTap helps you set up a series of questions related to the goal you want to work on. The answers to these questions determine the progress which is charted by RoutineTap.

For instance, let’s say that you are training to prepare for a marathon. You can set up RoutineTap with a question like – How many kilometers did you run today? (Alternatively, it could be a simpler – Did you run today?). Both of these questions will generate an answer: a number (e.g. 1 km) for the former; a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for the later.

The answers represent raw data that can be plotted on a graph and tracked over course of time. RoutineTap believes that keeping track of this data could lead to habit changes as you visualize your progress over time.

For me, RoutineTap is a nice way to see the difference between the status quo and actual progress for the goals I have set for myself.

Track Progress with Questions

You can set RoutineTap to ask you different types of questions. That will depend on the goal you are planning to track. The screenshot, and the left panel, show the different types of questions that can be set up – from simple yes-no types to the more detailed textual types (not visible in the screenshot). You can create as many questions as you wish in your questionnaire. The more questions you set, more detailed will be the tracking. Multiple questionnaires can be created but only one is active at any point in time.

The only hitch is that if you are tracking any sort of expense, RoutineTap works with Euros. I am trying to track my running efforts. My first question looks like this:

Set up multiple questions. You can change the order by dragging and dropping the questions in place. Click the black cross if you want to delete a question.

To stick to your resolve and to maintain motivation to follow through with RoutineTap, try to keep the questions simple so that you just to spend handful of minutes each day updating the RoutineTap daily entries. You can use the calendar to go back to any date and fill in the answers in case you missed a day somewhere. Here is a screenshot with the questions I had set up for myself. For each day, you have to take just a few minutes and answer them,

Monitor Habit Patterns with Graphic Reports

The Reports section displays all the data you have accumulated with the help of your answers. Here are the tracking results in the form of colorful graphs. You cam mouse over the graph to see the numbers for that graph. The graphs give a clear indication if you are on the fast track with your goal or flagging off now and then.

Consistency of Habits

It’s a thumb rule that says anything done over the course of 21 days becomes a habit. I don’t know about that one, but if you can keep to your purpose with the help of this simple app, you would have taken big strides. RoutineTap motivates you to track your days and the hope is that a rising graph would motivate you to stay the course. If RoutineTap does not do it for you, here are a few more:

By training your unconscious mind, you can influence and potentially change your behavior. You can for example do this by repeating affirmative statements to yourself. A much more subtle method is to use subliminal messages, that you pick up unconsciously. Admittedly, the effect of unconscious stimuli is weak and temporary, however, it isn’t entirely negligible. Wouldn’t you like to find out whether this zero effort technique can be used to train your unconscious mind?

Disclaimer: I am not a psychologist! What I am presenting here is a simple tool, which is to be used in a simple way, in conjunction with harmless messages, all with good intention. It cannot be used to self treat serious mental conditions or other medical conditions. Please do not use the methods and tools described here to manipulate others or to harm yourself or others!

What Is The Unconscious Mind?

Before I instruct you on how to set this up on your computer, let me give you a brief introduction to your unconscious mind.

Your unconsciousness is an awareness filter. It allows you to concentrate on one task while there are a million other things in the back of your mind or happening around you. For example, the filter enables you to focus on a conversation in the midst of a busy party. However, while nothing escapes your senses, you only become consciously aware of it, if your brain recognizes that it is relevant.

For example imagine a situation in the past when you were deep into a conversation and when you suddenly heard your name mentioned somewhere. Didn’t you find yourself promptly distracted and shifting your attention?

How Can I Use Subliminal Messages?

Subliminal messages are sensory stimuli that are below the threshold for a conscious perception. In other words, you don’t notice them. They can be short flashes of images or text, as well as auditory signals. What they do is inform your unconscious mind, which can potentially impact how you feel or how you behave.

Whether or not messages directed at your unconsciousness work, greatly depends on how you word them. Your unconscious mind best processes present tense and positive statements. Moreover, your affirmations should be personal and specific. The shorter, the better.

The best way to use subliminal messages is for simple, positive thoughts and instructions, such as reminding yourself to drink water regularly (I enjoy drinking water!), to reducing eye strain from staring at a screen all day and helping you blink your eyes more often (Blink your eyes!), or to lift your mood (Smile and be positive!).

Free Subliminal Text

Free Subliminal Text (FST) is a Java-based tool that flashes subliminal messages on your screen while you are using your computer. Per default, the text appears partially transparent as very brief flashes in random locations of your screen. You can customize these settings in the Options tab of the tool.

For me personally, the default timing was too long or maybe my computer was too busy. I could clearly see the text flash up, which was very annoying. I adjusted it to 5ms with 500ms breaks in between messages. I also increased the font size to 100 and increased the alpha to about one third. Finally, I positioned the text in the center.

Under Messages you can add as many different text pieces as you like. You can drag and drop sentences from the suggestions or add your own. Your messages can be displayed either sequentially or randomly.

Very few of us realize that the old maxim of – every journey begins with a single step – applies so well to our lives and our efforts to improve it. The single step easily translates to a single day of our lifetime. The Daily Challenge is a web application that has come in to remind us of that very fact. In their own words, The Daily Challenge promotes everyday well-being by encouraging the small actions and fostering the social ties that drive meaningful change.

But The Daily Challenge keeps its focus (and yours) on small incremental changes rather than lofty ones. It does away with the typical ‘run marathons in 3 months’ approach to a more achievable ‘move your arms like you are jogging for 1 minute’. But how does it keep us on track and motivated enough on the lifestyle change curve?

An Email With The Daily Challenge

Every morning at 7 AM, you will receive a daily challenge via email. The ‘challenge’ has to be met within 24 hours. Oh, don’t worry, you won’t be asked to do 100 pushups. Following on its simple goals and simple challenges theme, it would be something like – set a timer on your watch or phone and brush your teeth for 2 minutes, then follow up with floss.

This was the first challenge I received just after I signed on.

The Free Sign Up & Setting Up Your Profile

You can sign up with an email or connect with Facebook. The important thing is that the web application is completely free. One of the very first things you should do after signing up is to confirm the timezone as the email will hit your inbox at 7 A.M. in your time.

You can skip connecting with friends, although I would say that removes one of the key motivators for life change. Being accountable to your social circle helps to keep you on track towards your goals. The Daily Challenge is as much about the social community as it is about you.

Don’t skip the Well-Being Tracker because the few questions help you to create a baseline score from where you can only improve. Finish the sections entitled Life Evaluation and Emotional Challenge before you hit the Daily Challenge button.

A question like – In the last 12 months, was there a time when you did not have money for adequate shelter or housing for you or your family? – makes you ponder that your life isn’t bad after all.

Completing these sections also wins you Stamps. Stamps are ‘badges’ that you can show for all your achievements on the site.

Are You Up For The Daily Challenge?

The Daily Challenge, in its simplest form, works like this:

Posting comments after you meet your daily challenges is a fun way to share experiences. You never know what you might learn from this shared activity with others on the site. As you go on completing challenges, you go up each level and accumulating points. These points open up a wider area for self-improvement called Tracks.

The Bigger Challenges – Tracks

Tracks are concentrated areas of activity. For instance, here’s a preview of the Tracks you can follow and attempt to complete in 28 days. They are also constructed around daily challenges and incremental improvements each and every day.

But if you think you can just amble in and start with a Track, you are wrong. Tracks are locked and can only be opened with tokens. Tokens can be earned with points. There are several ways you can earn points – by completing challenges consistently, posting how you did it, finishing pacts with your connections, building your network, receiving and giving encouragement…and more.

For every 100 points you earn, you are awarded 1 Token. 25 Tokens can be converted to a Key. Each Key unlocks 28 days of access to a Daily Challenge Track of your choice. For the next 28 days you can focus on only that area and bring about improvement in your life.

Self- improvement starts with motivation. If you can’t mother it within, allow The Daily Challenge to prod you along. It has all the tools to bring little changes to our lives. Would you agree? Do you use any other online tool to improve your life and those around you?

<firstimage="http://main.makeuseoflimited.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Shutterstock-Quotation.jpg" />Motivation is like a pill; you never know when you might need it. Even better, consider motivation like a vitamin pill and you know that having a little each day would keep the “˜ills’ at bay. So, it really pays to keep oneself bolstered with motivational and inspirational quotes each day.

Thanks to many motivational websites on the web, you are never in want of wisdom nuggets that are made available for free.

You can go straight to websites like the ones we saw on the 10 Websites For A Daily Fix Of Sayings & Quotations. Or you can quite easily go to your favorite quotation website and see if it offers daily quotes by mail, Twitter, or RSS feeds.

Here, we will be looking at a few websites that help to light the fire in your belly using the convenient RSS feed links. If you shun Twitter and hate clogging your inbox with daily emails, then using feeds is the way to go.

Quotes Daddy

Quotes Daddy has over 1,000,000 quotes spanning relationships, inspiration, love, and even a section of user submitted quotes. You won’t be able to read all of them in your lifetime, so it makes sense to receive one each day in your feed reader. The quotation website doesn’t make it obvious but you can subscribe to its feed using the little red feed icon on top between the Signup and Home links. Or if you just want the ones tagged as ‘inspirational’ click the feed icon next to the quote headline.

The Quotations Page

This one is a simple quote collection website without too many frills. Among all the quotes arranged by author and subject, there’s the one which showcases Motivational Quotes of the Day. You can subscribe to the motivational quotes of the day using the link for the feed. What I like about this quotation website is the extra information it provides on the quote and its author.

Quotations Book

The site says it has 43,000 quotes by over 7,000 people in over 1200 subjects. It has also indexed 20,000 books from Project Gutenberg to provide quotes in context as they occur in literature. You can browse quotes by tags, drill through using the alphabetical listing, or do a general search. The page on motivation has 79 quotes, but then inspirational quotes are usually spread across other subjects too. Quotes of the Day is sent out by two kinds of RSS feeds – plain quotes of the day and quotes of the day with pictures. The site also as Short Quotes of the Day feed which updates every 3 hours.

Brainy Quote

Brainy Quotes commonly makes the list of quote websites. It features an extensive collection of quotations intermingled with a whole lot of features like trivia games. One of the unique categorizations it has is by type of author which lets you look at quotes by professions. Right at the foot of the page, you will find the link to the site’s Quote Feeds which leads you straight to the Quote of the Day RSS feed.

Quote Snack

Quote Snack is a little blog on quotes which goes into quotes a bit more deeply. Each quote is an individual blog entry which explains the quote and points to the context in which it was mentioned. Try out the blog with the RSS subscription link provided.

Dictionary Quotes

Quotations help to provide a fresh spark to our jaded thinking. A lot of others have done the thinking job before us and put it in words. All that’s left for us to do is to act on those wise words. That’s why these motivational quotations deserve a special folder all of their own in your feed reader.

Can you suggest a few more motivation quote websites that we can place in ours?
