There’s no denying that Stumbleupon is a very powerful social networking tool when it comes to promoting websites. Once a page gets into the Stumbleupon system (up to 2.2 million pages a month!), it can then be seen by hundreds, thousands, if not tens of thousands of people, all in a very short time.

The word ‘viral’ is just the word you would use when it comes to something that’s popular on Facebook. Whether it is a game like FarmVille or the latest I-want-it-for-my-profile-pic silhouette photo of Steve Jobs, things can be left to their own devices once you press the Share or Like button-links. If you and your Facebook friends are active readers of Yahoo-posted news, Yahoo has recently developed a way for Facebook members to share links to news articles they read from within the Yahoo News site. Called Yahoo News Activity, the service was launched at the Facebook f8 conference held a few weeks ago in San Francisco.

When sharing content, we’ve found that shortening links is the most effective way to not only make the link fit on a site like Twitter, but for us to track activity around them via clicks, views, etc. But what if we could do even more with the links we share? I’m going to show you a service called BO.LT, which lets you “remix” the content you want to share before sending it out. If you’re into content sharing like I am, you should find this very useful.

Since Google launched its +1 button for websites this past June, it says that more than one million sites use the sharing feature . To extend the use of the button, Google recently launched two more features that enable users to use +1 buttons with their Google+ circles, and the ability for content publishers to customize the +1 content using what Google calls “+Snippets.”

Social media giants Facebook launched the Facebook Like Button extension for Google Chrome that adds the ability to “like” any webpage visited from the comfort of Chrome’s toolbar and context menu – back in July. As well as adding a “like this page on Facebook” thumbs-up button to your Chrome toolbar, the extension also adds other options.

Sharing is a critical part of social networking, which is why the lack of such a feature in the Google+ Android app seemed unusual. Now, after many requests, a “reshare” function has finally been added to the app in version 1.0.6. As you’d hope, reshare isn’t complex.
