I am always on the hunt for a better way to browse the Internet on my iPhone. While there is not necessarily anything wrong with Mobile Safari, I still feel I need something better. I have been quite happy using Google Chrome on my iPhone for a couple of months now. Then, Maxthon for iOS released an update with full iPhone support, and is making me reconsider my decision to stick with Chrome.

Google has rolled out their Google+ local app for iPhone. The app, formerly known as Google Places, has Zagat and voice search integrated into the app. Voice search works as you would expect it to. You simply say what you are looking for, and Google will display a list of places in your area that match your search. You can use broader search terms like "pizza restaurant" to see a list of pizza places or narrow terms such as the name of a specific place.

Google has launched a new update for their iOS application recently which adds some key features that were missing from the app. The three key features in this new version of the app finally bring the iOS Gmail to the level of other Gmail clients. The first, and most noticeable new feature in this update is support for the Notification Center. It is supported through banners, alerts and lock screen alerts. Google also states that notifications in the update are much faster than the previous version. In fact, they are claiming that they are five times faster than before.
