There's a ridiculous amount of free media content available from the Internet Archive, and the most interesting downloads are often the oldest ones. With masterpieces like Alfred Hitchcock films, gunslinging John Wayne westerns and reels of stock footage and home movies, you'd be forgiven for forgetting the audio archives exist at all.

Who doesn't love Internet radio? I was a slow adopter when it came to streaming online music, but now I’m a believer and I wouldn't have it any other way. Fortunately, the technology has been continually advancing and now we've got a number of great mobile music streaming services. Jango Radio is one of them and it most definitely deserves your attention.

HAM radio. If you even know what it is, it conjures up images of grown men hiding in dark places with glowing vacuum tubes and devices with knobs and twiddle-bits. They're talking across the world about who knows what. They're part electronics guru, part mad scientist, part excited kid. These are the guys that preceded the computer gurus of today. These are the guys that could reach across the world when no one else could.

Speaking of the iPhone and Spotify, it is a little disheartening to think that radio could give way to these newer, sexier modes of listening to (and sharing) music. But even still, radio has fought harder battles before. Televisions came along, and stations survived. Even with satellite radio, the AM and FM frequencies didn't give up. However, I bring to you a new form of radio that brings it to your iPhone with the convenience of Spotify - TuneIn Radio.

I've got some incredibly bipolar musical interests, and it feels as if I've been listening to the same 2,000 songs for the past many years. Manually finding new musical interests is a thing of the past thanks to Pandora and alternatives, and streaming music and Internet radio is on a huge uptick thanks to applications like Spotify. No matter how many automated taste-tweaking applications I go through, nothing compares to SomaFM.

Over time, the stories you hear better match your interests. Basically, NPR's new Infinite Player is Pandora for news.
