Just think about what your time on Facebook could tell you about your likes and interests and the friends you communicate with. Imagine how cool it would be to visualize all of that information in an infographic of some kind. Well, now you can, with an app called Social Memories. Being a big proponent of infographics and social media data, I love the idea of viewing all of my ‘social memories’ in book form.

Put the current weather where it belongs: in Ubuntu’s panel. If Unity’s left you without your favorite weather panel applet, worry not: you can install a weather indicator applet that’s just as good, and in some ways better, to the antiquated Gnome weather applet of old. Being able to see the current temperature, along with an icon representing conditions, at a glance is awesome.

There are a lot of apps and websites out there dedicated to forecasting weather. Some are better than others, and on a Mac, Meteo is one of the best I’ve seen. Meteo, or Meteorologist, is a free weather program for OS X. It allows users total control over their weather viewing, with support for multiple cities, interlaced weather reports, weather alerts & much more.

Mactracker, a classic application for Mac users, has recently made its appearance in the Mac Store. If you ever need information about any piece of Mac hardware, from the Macintosh XL released in 1983, to the latest MacBook Pro models released early this year, you can quickly find it in Mactracker.

It might be old and stale, but dated news still has its uses. Does the image of a guy who keeps stacks of yellowing newspapers in his attic seem somewhat out of the ordinary? It might be an obsessive disorder, and rummaging around in that pile may not appeal to us, but that pile could be a storehouse of valuable information.
