The popular magazine style and RSS feed mobile app, Flipboard has added Apple iBookstore and Books categories to its list of Content Subscriptions and recommendations. The new iBooks section consists of two dozen book categories found in the iBookstore itself, including Bestsellers, Arts and Entertainment, Cookbooks, Food & Wine, History, Humor, Romance, and Travel & Adventure.

The recently announced iPad mini, along with similar digital tablets like the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 make for nearly perfect e-reading devices. From the near paper-like reading to the easy download and archiving of eBooks, there's hardly no reason now not to build an eBook library. As part of its much-anticipated iPad mini release event on Tuesday, Apple's CEO Tim Cook also demonstrated the update of the iOS iBooks app and version 2 of the multimedia and publishing application, iBooks Author. Cook noted that more than 400 million iBooks have been downloaded since the release of the iOS iBooks reader.

As Apple prepares (by the time you read this) to deck the retail shelves with the new iPod Touch, it is also preparing all potential customers with a handy iPod Touch user guide. Apple has published an eBook that goes into the ins and outs of using the new iPod Touch and all the amazing things you can do with it. Apple says it is the definitive guide if you are planning on a purchase. The new iPod Touch also gets Siri, and it will take getting some used to for those who are not familiar with it.

Apple recently introduced iBooks Author in a live presentation at the Guggenheim in New York. The software is aimed at textbook writers and publishers, but it can just as well be used for producing cookbooks, picture books, interactive fiction novels, how-to books, and the like. iBooks Author looks to be the first consumer-based e-Pub software designed for multimedia books.

iBooks has received a nice little update recently that adds a bunch of new features that users were clamoring for. The first major feature is the addition of a night-time reading mode. This makes the background black and the text white. This makes reading less strenuous when in a dark area. The next addition in this update is the inclusion of a full screen mode.

Apple are digging themselves even deeper into the business of selling electronic music by expanding their business into 12 more countries. Users in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia or Slovenia can now log into the iTunes store and legally buy all of their music.
