The iPhone 4S has been a huge success, despite the fact it’s not much of an improvement over the iPhone 4. Hence the 4S in the name rather than a 5. The biggest draw for Apple fans looking to upgrade their handset is the addition of Siri. Siri is a voice-activated personal assistant which lives on the iPhone 4S and in the cloud. Many people have had some fun with Siri, as the following videos demonstrate.

Hipsters, or scenesters as they’re sometimes called, are a sub-culture who want to be different. At all costs. That longing to be different has now come full circle, where it’s actually the norm (or at least common) to be a hipster – wearing retro clothes, sporting strange facial hair, and generally being a little out there. This has led to hipsters trying to be more different than ever before.

After months of rumors regarding a move into augmented reality, Google finally unveiled its Project Glass initiative at the beginning of April. Apart from a few photographs of annoying models wearing an early version of the Google Glasses, the main draw was a concept video showing one day in the life of someone wearing these futuristic specs. This video was ripe for spoofing.

Tumblr has been around for quite a while, but only recently did I decide to open one of my own. When that happened, I suddenly became more aware, and found that there are fascinating, hilarious and beautiful things hidden in the web in the form of Tumblrs. What I love about Tumblrs is how lean on text they can be. This way, I can follow multiple blogs, learn new things and get my dose of laughs.

Video games have come a long way in terms of telling a story. They have high grade voice actors and cutscenes that occasionally rival at least mid-grade movies. However, the one place video games always seem to lack in is comedy. Humor just never seems to come across as well in a video game as it does in other entertainment mediums. I never really understood why.

When cult US TV show Mystery Science Theatre 3000 was cancelled in 1999, head writer Mike Nelson had to find another way of mocking motion pictures. For those of you who never saw the show, MST3K showcased some of the worst movies ever made with a rip-roaring commentary on top for pure entertainment value. But luckily, thanks to the Web, out of the ashes of MST3K came RiffTrax.

Just choose your poison – Facebook, games, news sites, blogs, etc. Blogs that entertain you these days abound – you have probably heard of The Oatmeal, Hyperbole and a Half, Fail Blog, Damn You Autocorrect, Cracked, The Chive….all of which rely on images or videos to amuse you.

I have ripped on Apple quite a bit here on MakeUseOf in recent weeks. Partly because a company of that size and stature deserves to get taken down a peg or two from time to time, partly to counter the weight of Apple fanboys on the Web, and partly because, well, it’s fun, quite frankly. However, in the spirit of fairness there are other tech giants ripe for a little gentle ribbing.

A single-serving website is a website that serves a single purpose. This same website usually contains just a single page. They are very narrowly-targeted and typically come attached to a vanity domain name. They serve no real purpose other than to entertain us and see where they go. Some single-serving websites have become huge due to their very simple, unique nature.
