Gmail users in the US and Canada who have been enjoying Google’s free calls deal over the last year will be pleased to know the offer has been extended into 2012. A post on the Official Gmail Blog confirmed that North American Gmail users can continue to call landline and mobile numbers for free, for the next 12 months.

Windows users looking for an easy way to convert their FLAC files to MP3 format are in luck this month as FLAC to MP3 drops its usual $29.95 price tag and goes free for the festive season. FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec and provides superior sound quality to “lossy” MP3 files at the expense of disk space.

In tune with the general holiday spirit, Apple is again offering free shipping on everything during the upcoming month. The offer is valid for all items, but only on Apple’s US store. So if you live in the US, or know someone who does, everything you order from now up until December 22nd will ship for free.

World of Warcraft gets a lot of bad press, yet clearly it’s doing something right to a have a few million players worldwide. In a bold move to invigorate the aging game, attract new players and just let everyone have a little fun, Blizzard recently announced that the game was now 100% free to play up to level 20.
