Many of you may be on the waiting list for Facebook's new Graph Search, and if you are, you have even more to look forward to. Facebook announced on Friday that it would be improving Open Graph by adding nine new common actions for lifestyle apps. The new actions will be available for fitness, books, and movie and TV partner app categories. Although simple, the new additions have a great deal of potential.

After several days full of guesswork, Facebook has finally announced its biggest change in a while: a brand new News Feed. You can filter your posts so you get to see updates from all friends, only music updates, only photos updates, or all the Pages you're following. The updates themselves have been redesigned, with larger images and inline text, and are aimed to highlight the stories users are sharing.

Facebook has become a one size fits all social networking platform. The typical News Feed is filled with randomly mixed updates from friends, family, colleagues, and various pages. While you may want to see all of those posts, at least sometimes, you might not want to see all of them at the same time. Introduced two weeks ago, Facebook’s new Graph Search has by now reached many user profiles. If you’ve seen a notification about it and enabled it, you’ve noticed that the entire top bar of your Facebook homepage has changed, and now includes the option to search for things like “people who like running and are from my hometown” or “my friends who like John Irving”. Bing’s Social Sidebar is going deeper into Facebook. Bing says the new Social Sidebar is multiplying the information you retrieve from your social circle by a factor of ‘five’. Microsoft calls it 5x. In simple terms, Facebook is now more searchable with status updates, shared links, comments and photos from your friends on the sidebar.
