I still remember the exact day that I unboxed my Nintendo 64. I've always been a huge gamer and a bit of a nerd, and that console was a big step for me. Playing my NES, SNES, and Genesis every day became a thing of the past once I got my hands on Wave Race 64, Super Mario 64, and Diddy Kong Racing. I never picked those consoles up again. The Nintendo 64 is definitely one of the best gaming consoles of all time.

Do you want a gamepad for your Mac, but don't want to buy yet another controller? Use your WiiMote as a gamepad with Wjoy. This app doesn't enable motion controls on your Mac, but it does let you use your WiiMote as a simple gamepad – perfect for games and even emulators if that's what you like to do. Not everyone knows it, but the WiiMote connects to the Wii using Bluetooth – and there's nothing stopping you from using the WiiMote with any computer that uses Bluetooth.

As the first major handheld console and a gem of the Nintendo brand, Gameboy pushed out some incredibly cool and classic video games, such as Super Mario, Mega Man, Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon, which are just a few major series that made the transition to this platform (or even started there). Tim did a great article last year reviewing some of the best emulators for handheld consoles, but of that group I think that VisualBoyAdvance really shines.

Back in January, BlueStacks was introduced to MUO readers in an article that provides similar alternatives to the emulation software. Since then, the development of BlueStacks has progressed in a way that, in my opinion, blows the other two right out of the water. BlueStacks has officially joined my circle of "holy grail" software like Dropbox and Steam. If you've never used BlueStacks before, it's a way to bring the Android platform to you right from your desktop or laptop.

There are a lot of exciting new Web technologies emerging at the moment, with Google’s Native Client joining HTML5 and CSS3 in paving the way to a more versatile and interactive Internet. Robert Isaacs has put this technology to good use with NaClBox, a version of DOSBox that runs in Google’s Chrome browser. The project is a little over a year old and has recently launched a closed beta for the site’s most exciting feature - the ability to upload your own DOS games and store them in the cloud.

Run DOS software on your Wii, just because you can. DOSbox for Wii puts the complete DOS experience – command prompt and all – on your Wii. DOSbox isn't just for Windows, though: it works on Linux, OS X and almost any platform you can imagine...including, believe it or not, the Wii. You'll need to know your way around DOS to get your favorite games working, but if a DOS prompt doesn't scare you it won't be a problem.

It’s free, completely cross-platform and runs virtually any DOS game or app you can throw at it. I have been a gamer for as long as I can remember. Long enough, in fact, to recall my amazement at the graphics the Atari 2600 was capable of. In hindsight I realize they really weren't pretty, but as a kid this piece of kit producing colorful games on my parents' television was like something from the future. Since then I have owned numerous games consoles, and there is a constant need to move onwards and upwards.
