Craiglist is an interesting part of the Internet’s legacy. Founded over 15 years ago, the site has steadfastly refused to change its minimalist design and easy-to-use posting system. Though perhaps no longer as popular as it was a decade ago, Craiglist remains a popular and successful site. This success has spawned many imitators over the years.

Craigslist first graced the Internet in 1995, and after exploding in popularity soon established itself as an online mainstay for the foreseeable future. 17 years on, and the service is still the number one choice for many when it comes to classified ads, services, personals and the occasional rant and rave. However, Craigslist is not streamlined for mobile devices.

You see a lot of strange tidbits if you care to put in the time to browse through them. Craigslist is no different. I also realized there are probably some other crazy things among the virtual classifieds, and fortunately, I found the Best Of section of the site. While there, I found some very strange items on there, so I thought I would share them with you!

Unemployment is an issue in much of the world today. There are many people looking for work, but not enough companies hiring. As a result, job hunters are trying to find ways to find and apply to as many jobs as possible and Craigslist is an obvious solution. However, I also found myself wasting time on supposed opportunities that turned out to be scams.

It’s pretty clear to most people that use it, that Craiglist is one of the largest, if not the largest database of items and services for sale. Craigslist spans the entire world, and serves communities from the largest cities to the smallest towns. The only thing Craigslist lacks in a very big way is a front-end that makes any sense at all.

In a web 2.0 era, Craigslist has refused to make major alterations to its site. This has advantages, but one disadvantage is the lack of a great search function. While a dedicated desktop Craigslist client is something I like to use when I’m trying to do a deep query of Craigslist, I also don’t want to keep extra software running all the time for scheduled Craigslist searches. So I was pleased to discover CraigZilla, a Craigslist search tool that runs embedded right inside Firefox.
