The internet allows for a huge increase in connection and community as well as media - more specifically, music. With such a demand, a wave of new file sharing was born that is now called called BitTorrent. This allows users to share files easily by storing separate files, not on one person’s computer, but multiple computers with certain pieces of files on them to allow downloading from multiple locations and thus speeding up downloading. Unfortunately today, BitTorrent has become the mainstream way for sharing copyrighted content. There are a few sites though (like LegalTorrents), that do offer torrents that are free and legal.
Music has become a natural part of our everyday life. Imagine music missing from movies, department stores or tv commercials. Music is more than decoration, though. Sites like Pandora and Last.fm have hit a beat with those not wanting to miss out on great music, popular or not.
My passion is concerts and although I love music, I hardly ever find the time to just sit down and listen to an entire album. Usually, I have material of the bands I like best or am going to see next on my mp3 player to listen to while I’m on the way.
The way each of us consumes music is so diverse it’s no wonder the internet is exploding with tons of different ways to listen, share, discover, archive, and organize our musical lives. Some of us rarely attend concerts but frequently purchase CDs. Others attend concerts and prefer to download music, while some prefer radio and streaming music without ever having to own the music itself. Today, I want to focus on one aspect of my musical consumption - attending concerts.
