Geeks were once ridiculed and reviled. Or perhaps that was just at my school. Either way, as first computers hit the mainstream, and then the Internet entered into our lives in a big way, geeks became the people to know. In fact, they started being considered cool. The Internet is now awash with places for these geeks to hang out, and they do so in increasing numbers.

A few of us here on MakeUseOf like Reddit, and apparently so do quite a few other people out on the Internet. Some of those people like it so much that they even create their own web apps and phone apps to use the site in much more creative ways. Once again, we have another unusual way to use Reddit, and this time, it comes in the easy-to-digest form of the Reddit Investigator.

As a video production student, I still don’t know what direction I’m going in. I don’t know if I want to make music videos, and I don’t know if I want to make documentaries. I could be doing corporate video, or I could be operating a TV camera at a football game. So when I’m feeling frantic and disoriented in life, I go to the Internet to gain insight on what people are doing with their video careers.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then the odds are pretty good that you’ve heard a little bit about the “Occupy” protests that started in New York City on Wall Street and then spread like wildfire across the country and across the globe. There are actually some very cool “Occupy” websites that have launched since the protests began in October, and I wanted to share a few of them with you.
