The Internet has been kind to comic book creators (although piracy has inflicted a big dent in the profits of the major publishers) and web comics and sequential art tales created specifically for an online audience are readily available. Websites for the comics’ artists and writers will regularly feature these tales, for instance, often in CBR or CBZ format for use with a comic book reader application.

Barnes & Noble’s recently unveiled Nook Tablet may be the newest and more exciting version, but that doesn’t mean that the company has discontinued or abandoned the Nook Color. Instead, they’ve dropped the price to $199 and continued onward. If anything, it seems as if the Nook Tablet may be helping to enhance its less expensive cousin.

Comic books are probably the first things that help us to dream. Through the growing up years, comic books and the capers in them shield us from the harsher realities of the world outside, where there are no superheroes, adventurous reporters, or philosophical dogs.
