First person shooters have been at the forefront of game development since their first incarnation over two decades ago. They combine adrenaline-soaked action with a perspective that provides a great stage for technology; first-person games feature excellent graphics, carefully crafted story events and amazing sound. Yet the core remains the same. You shoot a thing, until its dead – then repeat.

I will readily admit that I am a Halo hater. I've played almost every entry in the franchise (except Reach, I heard mostly negative things from my hardcore Halo playing friends). I reached a point where I decided that the Halo franchise just was not for me. If, like me, you've given up on the Halo franchise, Halo 4 is the game you should give another chance, and here are the reasons.

Sometimes, it seems as if Activision purposely releases a franchise until gamers hate it. Every year they pumped out a new Tony Hawk until everyone was sick of it. They did the same with Guitar Hero. All these years later, they seem to be doing the same with Call of Duty. I was feeling it with Modern Warfare 3. In fact, I played less of it than any Call of Duty game in the history of the franchise.

I love video games, and I am assuming that because you are reading this article, you probably do too. Well, in order to have video games, we need solid companies out there working hard to put out the games we enjoy so much to market. There are lots of companies out there making video games, and some have had a hit or two here and there.

Call of Duty is huge. Every November for the last 5 years, a new Call of Duty has hit store shelves, and every year it sells better than the year before. Even the years that Treyarch, often considered the B-team for COD games, makes them, they still sell millions and millions of copies and smash every entertainment sales record under the sun. It is an impressive feat, and one that keeps netting Activision more and more money.
