Boxee fans - it's over. There may be more fun to have with the Boxee Box, but Boxee on the desktop isn't coming back. It's time to find something else if you have a computer hooked up to your television. We should have seen it coming. There was an entire year between updates for desktop users, during which things continued to break.

If you are a user of Boxee on your home computer, I have some good news and some bad news. I will start with the good news, after all, we all enjoy the happy stuff. They have issued a major overhaul to the service with their latest update. It changes nearly everything about the user interface. The home screen is new, the main menu is new, they added rotten tomatoes ratings, and so much more.

Boxee may be best known for its media center, but that’s far from all D-Link has been up to with the brand. Today the company has released a free iPad app to flank the Boxee software that it already offers to PC, Mac and Linux users. The new app, much like the media center, is designed to offer an all-in-one interface that can handle your online video needs.
