STARCRAFT2LOGO 5 Websites All Beginner Starcraft II Players Need To ReadStarcraft II is a complicated game filled with deep nuances and intense strategy that can be rather intimidating for newer players to get a hold off. Many hours of dedication are required, and if you really want to learn the game, one of the best things you can do is take advice from other players. Why try to figure it out yourself when you can soak in the knowledge of those who have come before?

There is an abundance of websites out there with the aim of helping Starcraft players get better. Of course, you will need to be willing to put in the time to read the sites, and even more will be required to practice and get the hang of executing the strategies. Would you rather spend countless hours getting crushed by skilled players, or take their knowledge and apply it towards your game? I think the later is the way to go, and that is why the Starcraft II websites that follow are required reading for all new players.

YouTube

Of course, YouTube is an incredibly valuable resource for watching videos detailing Starcraft II strategies. You can watch videos from some incredibly skilled players, and this will go a long way towards making you a far better player. After all, what better way to learn than by watching other players actually do the thing you are trying to achieve.

Some Starcraft II channels worth subscribing to are:

  • Day9TV – Offers more Starcraft videos than you will know what to with, many of which are aimed at explaining strategies in the game.
  • HuskyStarcraft – This place has plenty of gameplay commentary videos, which is a great way to learn. Also, he is just downright funny and entertaining.
  • TotalHalibut – This series is not active anymore, but his “I suck at StarCraft Live” series is fantastic. He talks about why the things he does are bad, and how pro players would not make those mistakes. It’s a great way to learn.

Twitch

Twitch is one of the best resources to learn about any video game. Streamers of all ability levels cast themselves playing games, and many of them offer great tips for getting better. Whether you want to watch professional players go at it and pick up on what they are doing, or just watch regular players, Twitch is the place to go.

Starcraft Wiki

Wikis are a fantastic place to come learn about game mechanics from the community itself. As of this writing, there are 5,000 articles on the StarCraft Wiki, so there is no shortage of things to learn. Of course, the information is spread through the original StarCraft, and both iterations of StarCraft II, but there is still plenty of pure SC2 knowledge to gleam from this site.

Everything from build orders to descriptions of every unit in the game can be found here. For a new player, the information might seem a little overwhelming at first, but the fact is, StarCraft is overwhelming as a game. The best way to learn is to grab as much information as you possibly can, and the Wiki is the place to make it happen.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid is one of the most respected teams in professional gaming, especially in regards to StarCraft II and Dota 2. Being the kind souls they are, much of their knowledge is shared on their website. If you want to learn from the pros, the Liquipedia is the place to come.

This page offers strategies for each of the three races, and even tips for making it through the campaign. Build order is one of the most important parts of StarCraft, and this site has plenty of fantastic builds for all three races. It also provides links to other useful sites, so you can expand your knowledge even further.

Offical Starcraft II Site

This might seem obvious, but Blizzard’s StarCraft II site is packed with information, most of which is geared towards newer players. The Game Guide is the first place I would recommend hitting, as it gets you started in the right direction. It breaks down the units, the tech trees, and all kinds of other juicy bits that will be needed if you want to advance in the game.

In addition, the forums are a great place to come interact with other players. Of course, there will be some trolls, like any forum, but there are plenty of helpful players who will be happy to steer you in the right direction if you run up against a wall.

Now Get To It!

With these sites, and some serious practice and dedication on your part, you will be well on your way to becoming a respectable StarCraft II player. Will you make it to the big leagues? That depends on how much effort you are willing to put in, but you will at least be good enough to enjoy the game, and that’s what video games are all about!

Thank you! I love Starcraft, but I’m so bad at it that I had to stop playing it… too embarrassing! Maybe that will help!
