Ian, have you looked into trying Instacast or Downcast? These two apps are really useful for podcast listeners like yourself.

I have been interested in Podcasts ever since ex-MTV DJ Adam Curry released the first version of iPodder. I love to listen while on long journeys and late at night.

This Apple Podcasts app however is not up to the job. I can still listen to podcasts in Apple’s regular iPod/Music app and other purchased app, but this “Podcasts” app does not seem to be very responsive most of the time. Maybe it is because I have too many apps (331 currently), but I’ve had more and most apps work fine so I expect better from an Apple app.

I’m having the same issue and yes you could be right about that. On the other hand, though, I don’t think it should take it so long to load when the Music app loads huge music libraries much faster. I don’t know how a podcast app would function differently than a music app save for the subscribing stuff.

Other than the sluggishness, it’s a great app. Hope they fix the issue.

I hate how it loads so slow. I just wanna get right to my podcasts but no, it will have you wait til the “Catalog” button gets enabled and some other loading stuff. So annoying…
